In the old days of Yellow Pages, Woolworths was listed under the "grocers" category.Wouldn't buy furniture from a grocers either.
I thought that was where it was before it moved up to the 'new store'..?Didn't there used to be a little 'Woolies' by what is now the Guildhall entrance that just did groceries? Or did I dream that?
When the legislation covering Sunday opening hours was being messed around with a long time ago, there was a furniture shop which tried to get round them by selling carrots at astronomical prices on Sundays and throwing in a free item of furniture with each purchase. Didn't get away with it for very long.Wouldn't buy furniture from a grocers either.
Changed into Brians Wallpaper, think the outside was painted bright yellow.Didn't there used to be a little 'Woolies' by what is now the Guildhall entrance that just did groceries? Or did I dream that?

They opened the 'new store' in 1962, apparently, but kept the old Market Square store going until 1972, as well, as seen here.I thought that was where it was before it moved up to the 'new store'..?
William Morris famously said “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” and that reminds me that Market Square has nothing really now, neither useful bus stops and lavatories nor beautiful flowerbeds.They opened the 'new store' in 1962, apparently, but kept the old Market Square store going until 1972, as well, as seen here.
Reckoned he couldn't taste any cheese. Slapped between two well buttered bread rolls, with a very generous dollop of Daddies Brown Sauce.
Tomorrow nights tea will be Onion & Garlic Spaghetti Bolognese with a very large spoonful of garlic puree.
For the pedants amongst us ---
@proactive Get us!A-t-il remarqué qu'il n'y avait pas de fromage ?
