Wildwood Oddities

Hi,

I've lived in Wildwood for a few years and wanted to see if any fellow Wildwoodarians or other Stafford folk had observed the following :-

1) We get at least 3 charity bags a week

2) Different scrapmen come down our road at least ONCE a DAY! (They no longer play the trumpet relying on travellertrumpet.MP3 to play out via speaker)

3) The most startling of all it's 7:15pm pitch black and absolutely teaming down with rain and the ICE CREAM MAN has just come up our road for the 3rd time this week!

Is this usual?

Thanks,

Paul

Your house has been cased via google street view and you have been seen as a high priority target. These are professional thieves, if you look closely you'll realise the ice cream bloke is merely the rag and bone man in a hat.

You need to move to a better class area, we don't get any of the above nor gritters, now see what you've gone and done.

Try living in the north end i'm often woken in the small hours by some drunken fools serenading me with some tuneless shrieking. It's at it's worst if the Antelope has had a late do then the noisy f*ckers really go to town!!.....

The Antelope appears to be shut.

About five years ago I saw my first teenage girl spit in the street, my score is well into double figures now. Not long before it's normal.

That guy really is on a hiding to nothing isn't he!

You would have thought the scrap iron folk must lose in fuel costs anything they make in scrap, but i guess they wouldn't do it else - unless of course their business acumen is on a par with their trumpet playing skills.

this confused the hell out of me when i first read it.. i thought you meant you get binmen down your road every day! lol.. when did rag & bone men/pikies stop being referred to as such??

yeah, we get them round our way every day as well.. never at unsociable hours though, so perhaps we get off lightly.. for all their annoyance, they are handy when you've got an old washing machine or something to get rid of, so i'll let them off..

there's one who lives up fallow field, or thereabouts, so i guess he just jumps in the van and takes his chances any time there's the faintest whiff of sunshine!

I know it is almost incomprehensible but they are calling out 'scrap iron' and something else i have yet to decipher. I thought rag & bone folk were after a wider category of junk.

ah, i didn't realise there were sub-categories of pikey lol.. all i know is, i had an old cooker to get rid of one day, i heard that eery horn that sounds like something out of a horror film outside, so i asked them if they wanted it, and they took it..

there's a geezer in the railway who has that horn as his ringtone lol..
