Will UKIP Do Well in the General Election?

Well they have an MP now so thats hmmmm ....no it's gone. Trevor Forrester is a regular visitor to the #OccupySSH camp and does seem genuinely passionate about saving the hospital. Personally I wouldn't trust UKIP with the NHS any more than I do the Tories.

I get the impression that Farage will say anything if he thinks it'll get him votes, can't really blame his logic as it worked for David Cameron.

I presume that that should really say "wouldn't"..?

Or that the metropolitan professional political ruling class that run the other parties are so useless and are disconnected from the electorate that have allowed a fringe party to hoover up so many votes.

Perhaps the popularity of UKIP may have something to do with the ridiculous amount of press coverage that they seem to receive.?

Or it could be that a lot of people agree with their policies!

btw what is the difference between 'Quote' and 'Reply'?

Quote is where you want to reply to quotes from multiple posts. Just click quote on each post you want to reply to, then click in the message box at the bottom and they will all appear. Reply is if you want to reply to one message only.

That's as maybe, but there are other fringe parties which have excellent policies, who don't get anywhere near the same level of press coverage as UKIP. Some of these parties have had MP's long before the latest by-election.

The election is controlled by the media, it always has been. Whoever Maxwell wants to win will usually win, the UKIP marketing at the moment is to show he's not happy with the coalition, I expect the reason is to swell the far right then demonise UKIP at the last minute making people have to vote conservative (because they've already been convinced they are far right voters, so can't go to labour).

Shiniest turd / not the wrong lizard party will triumph this time round, people always vote against a party not for one.

I see EU President Barroso has slapped down Cameron's plan to restrict economic migrants from the EU saying it is illegal and it is non negotiable. Well that pretty much shows Cameron's position as a sham and he won't achieve any meaningful settlement for the UK.
The electorate face a stark choice next May, Vote Labour, Lib Dems, Green, Conservatives if they want to stay in the EU and face ever closer union, Vote UKIP if they don't.

Barroso came over fairly well on Radio 4 this morning , the other person in the discussion did not, not sure who he was but he sounded like a spoilt child. The sad thing about Radio 4 in the morning is that they keep on interrupting the interviewee just as they are about to inform us of something useful, and for what? Some stupid sound bite or weather report. Poor.

Eddie Mair on the other hand is a gift to radio journalism

I'm so old I remember him on news beat
