When is the new Co-op in Weeping Cross going to be finished? seems to be taking forever. Are they using fairtrade organic bricks or something?

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Co-op only bought the old pub because Tesco wanted the site for an Express Store. They aren't really bothered when the new one is ready to be opened as they still have their monopoly of the Baswich and Wildwood area.

Probably about the same time that Jaspers open.
The small paper signs in the window of 'never-to-be-opened-Jaspers' which proclaimed they were re-opening have now gone. I've asked about the opening in the Penkridge store a few times and have never got a straight answer.

Can't see it re-opening myself.

Seems like they've had a relatively small father and son company working on it. The building seems up finally but still a lot to do by the looks.

Well the ground is in a right state. Gonna take a while to level that off as it's in a right mess.

Wish they had. While I'm not a huge fan of Tesco they are at least more competent than Co-op.

ALDI application has been called in, to be heard 30th March, ALDI UK had stated 31st opening 'subject to change' so nothing's definite I guess

I made it into then today, no hold ups, no road works, no unmanned (or manned) temporary traffic lights. Lichfield, such a lovely place.

Can you clarify what you mean by "Aldi application called in"?

Also where did you hear this?

This development has been years in the planning. It seems a bit odd to have a hearing a day before a store is due to open and with the shelves all stocked and ready to go.

Thanks for the link...

Wow 55 pages.

Let's put it this way.

There is a lot to sort out and agree to at the meeting on the 30th before the opening the next morning.

That food on the shelves will be out of date already.

Someone recommended some wine to me from aldi's which was supposed to be very good and also cheap. I took one mouthful and poured the rest down the sink.

Out of curiousity @Katniss did you try any other wines from Aldi or did it put you off?

They do have some decent offerings and have won awards for the quality of some of their wines.

I didn't try any others but if you can recommend any I will try them. :)

I can't actually.

There are two reasons and the first is that mostly when I have enjoyed a bottle of wine I think I will remember what it is.
However, once the bottle has gone in the recycling then I have no memory of the name of it.

On the occasions when I have remembered and gone to get more then I find that it is no longer in stock.

They do tend to change their range quite often.

To be fair though everyone has different tastes and so even if I loved a wine, it may not be to your taste.

I quite like very dry white wines.

It really is a case of going in and trying a few for yourself.
