Perhaps I am also pi**ing iin the wind? but I believe there are plans for a playpark for the North End of town as part of the new housing development off Beaconside.
If it is anything like the development at Wildwood it will be a great asset.

There's also one planned for the Doxey development.

Spoilt for choice? Are you takng the p*ss? Look at the state of the skateboard section of the town park. To my knowledge this is the only place the kids can go to skateboard legitimately and it's so busy it's like sardines, all the time, not just on sunny days.

And as @littleme says, there is absolutely nothing for those kids unfortunate enough to live in the deprived north of town. They get the sh*t end of town shopsAND no parks!!!!

Isn`t your term: `are you taking the piss. Look at the skateboard section of the town park` somewhat over the top???!!!

If you mean it is well used, busy, hectic and kids have somewhere to go.....then yes, the park is in a right state lol

Ok, I'm not talking about young kids here, I'm talking about older kids and teenagers...... don't they have the nouse to walk or bike or get on a bus?

Wildwood park is great for skateboarding, tennis, etc.

I grew up in Tittensor where there was absolutely nothing going on.... we just got on a bus to Stone if we wanted something to do.

So there's nothing at the North End? **

What's stoppping the teenagers from venturing further afield?

It seems like youngsters nowadays aren't adventurous anymore and won't make an effort to get to places unless they get a lift.

**agree that there should be things to do in every community especially for the younger children.

It's jam packed with kids at all hours of the day and night, very dangerously so. As is the kids play park bit. they are both simply not fit for purpose due to OVER-subscription. They are victiims of their success so clearly we need more, quite a few more.

There you go, using words completely out of context like - it is not fit for purpose.

Of course it bloody well is, hence where it is over subscribed.

I have been around that kids play area in the height of a hot summers day with family.

Regardless of how busy it is all I see is kids having fun and parents relaxed and enjoying seeing their kids play.

Alot of areas towns would kill for a excellent quality safe play area that was busy.

Name them? If Stafford has such a great paly area and other towns don't then tell me where all these places are? Otherwise it looks like you are making up rubbish again!

Stoke nor Leek have nothing like Victoria Park for a start.

Stoke has a number of parks that are very old and in parts quite dilapidated. Those that have play areas ( of the fenced off kind) such as hanley park, northwood and hanley forest park are burdened with homeless and criminal activity such a drugs dealings etc.

I got lost whilst out for a jog a couple of weeks back. I ended up at Henry Street and saw there was a fairly reasonable play park there, weather withstanding, will be pushing my grandson on a swing there this evening.

I did put together a handy map and a specific thread for parks in Stafford

Thread - http:///xf/index.php?threads/playparks-in-stafford.17273/

We really are lucky to have so many dotted about - and mostly well maintained too

Bringing back to Victoria Park - boards explaining the Masterplan have gone up in various places around the park.

This is the thing with you isn't it. You slag off everywhere else in your attempt to demean the opinions of others who expect better for Stafford and aren't happy to put up with the rubbish we have, but you NEVER have the accurate evidence to back up your patronising opinion.

I know you never like facts to get in the way of your opinion, but here's some information on parks in the Potteries. I'm assuming you mean the Potteries as you mention Northwood and Hanley which aren't actually Stoke but y'know!! If you think homelessness and drug dealing are absent from any Stafford park then you need to actually visit one. Drunks in the little seated area opposite the railway station are a speciality of Staffords Victoria Park!

So, for the record:

Hanley Park recently awarded £4.5 million for restoration

Burslem Park is grade 2 listed park

Tunstall Park, another Grade 2 listed park

Fenton Park

Longton Park

Bucknall Park

Leeks population is a quarter of that of Stafford at c20,000 and a quarter of them are pensioners who probably don't need swings on a regular basis.

I'm currently in the Medway Towns, population 250,000, and it has nothing like the park provision stafford has. It has other highlights (good leisure centre facilities being one example) but on the kids play park angle it fails miserably.

Having been to a corporate day in Burslem Park I didn't see any play facilities for children. It is a beautifully landscaped park but not a playspace. Hanley park looks to have had some new play equipment put in when I walked past a few weeks ago but I'd want to choose my visiting times carefully. Brampton Park in Newcastle has a large playspace but it is very dated and nowhere near as attractive as Victoria Park

The 4.5 million is for restoring the older parts of Hanley Park too as far as I know, not new investment in play facilities
