The way in which Stafford Green Party conducted their campaign against the Western Access has put me off voting for them again locally.
Sorry, missed that - explain?

There's quite a long thread on it but two things that irritated me immensely were that it was badly informed and the attempts to deflect attention to an Eastern Bypass which they practically stated their apparent support for.

Got to page seven, skim reading, but remember distantly as a lurker. Will try the next half tomorrow to see if there is an irreconcilable bust up. Can't help thinking, in light of previous discussion of PR, if you would consider voting Green in a General election despite being put off doing so locally?

Finally managed to get on this morning:

Con 36
Lab 33

Three others in my office came back with pretty similar results.

Answer 30 questions and it will tell you which party your views are most aligned with.

(Site is running like a 2 legged dog at the moment as it was featured on BBC this morning)
Green 99%
Lib Dem 75%
BNP 26%
UKIP 25%
Labour 19%
Cons 17%

Obviously I would never vote BNP or UKIP or Conservative and I'm never voting Labour again, and less obviously I would never vote Lib Dem, but I had to pick at least 3 so I selected them all. PMSL that BNP and UKIP came above the big two! It seems I may have some racist tendencies...

Without wanting to start that old debate, I'm actually suprised in you not wanting Labour in. They certainly seem the most generous in benefits, it'd be interesting to see if this lack of self preservation is evident in others. I always figured having a core base of people dependant on them was Labours fall back strategy, as people wouldn't vote in someone who would cut their benefits.

What happened at the Tory event? Here are the key points.

• Cameron launched plans for a national citizen service. He descibed it as a "non-military national service".

He's talked about the idea before – he floated the proposal before he became Tory leader – and today he stressed that the idea was practical because it has already been piloted by the party.

He said it would involved 16-year-olds in a two-month programme incorporating teamwork, learning skills and social action. It would be voluntary, but he would like it to be something teenagers wanted to do.

It would be provided by charities, social enterprises and businesses and funded with money from the community cohesion programmes the Tories say are discredited.

Try this - http://voteforpolicies.org.uk/

It shows you extracts from different parties policies for different topics without telling you which party they are from and you decide which you agree with

Surprisingly the results actually matched what I originally thought were my political leanings (55% Labour, 45% Lib Dems) so make of that what you will in terms of its accuracy

It was interesting to see the different policies though I'd recommend selecting the see more policies from each party option as for some the ones that were hidden significantly changed my allegance

I just did the above and got 33% Lib Dems and 33% UKIP, can't remember the others but Labour didn't feature.
