No post for a while? Royal mail Stafford problems?

Unlike here, the mail gets through in Yorkshire. Now if he could only find the letterbox; the house would be a start.

Castlefields appears to have had the main road gritted some time over the weekend (shock) and yet still no sign of any postie at all today.

Oh, and one of the reasons the Royal Mail is inefficient is because it's been forced by successive Governments to operate on a smaller budget and more and more like a private firm instead of a public service. Privatisation won't help this, it will make it worse. They'll operate for stockholder profit instead of providing a service to every address in the country for the same price.

It is inevitable that bad weather will lead to delays in post. While I may like a good moan, a private firm won't magically make the snow go away.

The whole service is a joke and I can't wait for Royal Fail to be privatised. Like any other government run business, it's shockingly inefficient.
The grass ain't greener. It is naive in the extreme to think that privatisation will improve Royal Mail.

When you dribble on about inefficiency, is that like British Rail which operated on about a fifth of the public money that today's privatised railway consumes.

A fellow Castlefieldian... hi :)

I got a stack of parcels from RM today so you must just be unlucky.

Did they really grit Kingsway today though? I thought it looked a bit clearer but can't believe they actually gritted it....

Well there's brown slush and a bit of clear road this time, where last time it was sheet ice for a week. It looks like they've run the gritter through once- which improved the situation but hasn't completely cleared the roads like a repeated gritting does.

i really hope i'm not jinxing anything here, but i've had post every day, as usual.. bills, christmas cards, stuff from amazon, various other online sellers, etc.. i've got a few more bits to come, so i hope my postie keeps it up (as it were)..

perhaps i should give him a little xmas card this year to say thanks!
further to this, had a royal mail "we tried to deliver..." card through today, so the postie was still doing his job to the best of his ability, bless him :)

missed 2 parcels apparently, gotta collect them tomorrow..

I phoned them on monday, no refund as it was "in the tunnel" Since then ive been tracking it......it went from paris, france - to holland - to belgium and now its showing as GB in warehose!

They sent me an email saying due to adverse weather (winter lol), there could be a delay of up to 2 days, but assure me it will arrive before 25 dec.

Im crossing everything i got, fingers, legs etc lol..........I will give it until thursday, if its not turned up will have to go and get another from pc world and either send the late one back or sell it.
Its not even a "one off" its just a wascom graphics tablet, but the website makes you think your ordering in UK! The company in question is pixmania.

Had 5 parcels in two separate deliveries today. One was the usual postie, the other just appeared in my porch about an hour later. Still no sign of the one parcel I need in time for Christmas, but at least they're trying!

Good news. "Santa" is still waiting for three interesting packages here. Two days left to come good, Royal Mail.
