The PandA House has had a delivery this morning - I may be having my tea there tonight - so I care about little else, apart from my still-absent Eye..
My hubby is off to the PandA House tonight for his work Christmas do, so the place will be full of engineers ;)
Collective noun for a group of engineers?

Thicket.

Oh, how we laughed when the accountant that came out one with that couldn't start his car..

On the whole - the first option but I'd guess there will be the odd unscrupulous postie taking advantage of the situation.

i really hope i'm not jinxing anything here, but i've had post every day, as usual.. bills, christmas cards, stuff from amazon, various other online sellers, etc.. i've got a few more bits to come, so i hope my postie keeps it up (as it were)..

perhaps i should give him a little xmas card this year to say thanks!

I heard until a few days a go RM management was not allowing overtime or bringing extra workers. It appears now they are. Typical slow reaction. To most lay people and postmen/women, it was obvious if you did not do something you would have problems. I guess they were hoping to squeeeze the most out of the already over worked staff. I guess it looks better for their bonusses and targets.

Have just had post on a Sunday! Guess they're pulling out all the stops to get caught up :)
I think they've been delivering on the last Sunday before Christmas for many years.

Also I've been receiving deliveries by some very strange looking vehicles in the last couple of wks - have had all my parcels very quickly, so they've been subcontracting in Stafford for at least 2-3 wks.

I'm still waiting on two Christmas presents outstanding that were posted out by play.com on the 2nd December. I'm so concerned that I've phoned them (Indina call centre, absolute nightmare, took three attempts) and managed to get them to post them out again in the hope that those arrive first since I figure the backlog will be cleared more slowly than new post.

I'm also still waiting on two tickets I sent special delivery to arrive at the recipients address. It was my understanding that this is a 'premium' service, I certainly spent enough on it! I posted that 6 days ago yet they still haven't arrived. I knew the guarnteed next day service was suspended, not because the staff at the Post Office told me, but because of the news. The whole service is a joke and I can't wait for Royal Fail to be privatised. Like any other government run business, it's shockingly inefficient.
