Has anyone noticed how a lot of companies nowadays seem to employ numpties? (I mean huge corporations lol....thought id better clarify that one :)
Numpties are generally easier to fire when you no longer need them, and don't complain about the wages as much. That they can't do the job is a small problem.

TBH though most RM staff I've met are fine. As with all companies though, the odd **** spoils the impression.

I used to think it quite quaint that upon presenting my "You were out" Postcard at the depot the chap would get out the ancient ledger and scan down the biro'd list of house numbers.

These days I think it's staggeringly inefficient and out moded. I've not lost one yet - but I've spent many hours standing in that cold crowded hopeless hut with no nearby parking full of grumpy customers.

Not even a basic Exel + Search function.

I'm sure I could sort it in a few days. I'm not blaming the usually harrassed staff but it is obvious the Management is a joke.

I really want to support the PO but they make it difficult. It will of course be ten times worse when Privatised.

Sometimes the old technology works - I applaud the use of cycles - but come on! In the age of IPads we resort to pen and ink.

As ATJ said, if stuff has been delayed, I think that will stay delayed in preference for getting the newer stuff out...

What are all these "eyes" that everyone is waiting for?

The issue is that they need to invest but cannot get the funds. If we had not allowed competition previously but made them invest then we may not be in the situation we are. The competition was only in the profitable areas so all the new entrants were able to invest in technology. Remember the Royal Mail still has to deliver to every house. The competion does not want this. Also they have to deliver to Inverness for the same price as aroungd the corner.

Effectively all the good jobs were cherry picked, and RM is forced to deliver them for pittance. All profits flow to the private firms, RM goes belly up then one of Gordo's mates was meant to pick it up cheap. Now one of Camerons will get it instead.

The PandA House has had a delivery this morning - I may be having my tea there tonight - so I care about little else, apart from my still-absent Eye..

That was a bit of a pathetic effort at snow but I suppose it will add another 2 weeks to royal mails backlog!
We got mail yesterday for the first time in a couple of weeks. I sent some letters to customers posted in stafford to customers in stafford nearly 3 weeks ago and they have started arriving yesterday and today.
Also had to issue a refund for £62 for a parcel lost in the mail, posted 3 weeks ago - why is it always the expensive ones that get lost! Will be putting a claim in though, although it wont cover the whole cost.

My hubby is off to the PandA House tonight for his work Christmas do, so the place will be full of engineers ;)
