Are 'they' effectively treating the 5013 as a one way road westbound from Lloyds to the motorway?

It’s not even March yet, so we’ll have another bout of everything being dug up soon enough.
Rumor has it that is when beaconside will be dug up. also, baswich lane closure and m6 smart motorways work start.

Top of Radford Bank near the double mini-roundabout at lunchtime. White van pulled over to the side of the road with four police cars clustered tightly around it, lights flashing everywhere. Slowed down traffic a bit.

The (normal) Creswell situation will be most exacerbated by the Lloyds/Bristol Street roundabout chaos, I expect, but the Beaconside issue won't be helping, as that is the indicated diversion to avoid the Stone Road closure.
I live in Parkside and travel towards Great Bridgeford every weekday at about 8. It is now not a rare sight to pass traffic backed up all the way down Beaconside, around the A34 island (and quite far up the A34 coming towards Stafford), plus virtually the full length of the A34 slip road towards J14. All because of them stupid Beaconside lights.

I've said it before but can't help but imagine what it'll be like when they have done the planned 3 sets of lights down Beaconside plus the possible lights around the A34 island! Not to mention when all 9000 or so houses have been built off Beaconside!

If only a route between the castle and the common existed for hgv vehicles ...

I'm informed Highways have insisted these works happen during the School Summer Hilidays. I've requested that Network Rail confirm the dates of their works as a result, but still waiting, hence why I've not posted this information our yet myself. Once these dates are confirmed I'll post. Because doing the work in the summer holidays will make matters sooooo much better!

Besides, Highways can request all they like, it's up to National Rail when they do it irrespective. Has to fit in round all the other work they have scheduled.

Still time will tell...

I made another attempt today - everywhere was surprisingly quiet and easy.

Lloyd's roundabout was actually less congested that what we have come to think of as 'normal' and there was only one pointless sequence to sit through at the Parkside lights.

Just walked the dog and I have to ask, what level of fuckwittery and what kind of cockwomble would close a major trunk route north, the A34 Stone Road, divert drivers up the other main road north out of town, the Eccleshall Road, and then put temporary lights at the junction of Eccleshall Road and Holmcroft Road? Even for our pathetic council this is idiocy of epic proportions. North end of town deliberately gridlocked by the sheer incompetence of all involved with this shocking decision :(
