Stafford Traffic.

Beaconside is really busy at the moment as people try to avoid the closures. The semi permanent light by Newbold drive aren't helping. The Stafford traffic is as bad now as it was in post one of this thread.

Yep. Drove up to the Nissan garage today and it took a good while (20 minutes) to get there vs the usual sub-10 minute trip.

Beaconside northbound currently totally stuffed - back to Tollgate, with no apparent movement at all - I gave up and came home.

I only went that way to avoid the Eccleshall Road fiasco.

The semi permanent traffic lights really stuffing up traffic movements only stay green for approx 20 seconds at a time. The timing needs looking at if there not going to do the sensible thing and switch them off.

They need to be thrown in the ditch!

Yeah they really are rubbish. They hold the traffic on red for an age even when there is no traffic leaving that hideous new estate to trigger a change to red in the first place. As this is Stafford and no red light has a camera ignoring them seems to be the way to go.

As an aside, I emailed the highways dept today about the debacle on the Stone Road and got an automated email that I should get a response by 14 days. Perfect timing for the reopening of the Stone Road! Could hardly make it up really :(

It was like that about 08.00 this morning as well.

Other direction was fine.

Planned to come back via Corporation Street and Common Road until I realised that was closed too. Had to head back to Beaconside which was slow from Sandon Road.

I have registered a complaint with Highways. The whole thing is just contemptuous.

They say they might answer in seven to ten (working) days, if they aren't too busy.

Is this what’s causing all the problems at Creswell? It took me an hour to get from Great Bridgeford to Creswell this morning. I expected the motorway to be shut and couldn’t work out what had brought me to a standstill.

The (normal) Creswell situation will be most exacerbated by the Lloyds/Bristol Street roundabout chaos, I expect, but the Beaconside issue won't be helping, as that is the indicated diversion to avoid the Stone Road closure.

Traffic was tailing back onto lane 1 of the M6 at 14 because of this this morning, according to Twitter

It’s not even March yet, so we’ll have another bout of everything being dug up soon enough.
