Okay so I'm just putting it out there...

As a high school teacher (in a school of 2000 students)

We really shouldn't be here!

It seems crazy to me that you can't go to the pub but being surrounded by unhygienic teenagers is okay??

If you can organise other childcare please do (although it's worth noting the young are the least at risk)

The only reason we are open is to support the economy and keep parents at work.

I suppose that's rather skeptical but that's my view of the situation!

I hope everyone is well xxx

It must be really difficult being there but as I see it if they close the schools kids would be looked after by grandparents who are most at risk.
Heard that mentioned last night on Portugal news, asking parents not to offload kids onto grandparents whilst schools were closed . Kids can carry it but could have no symptoms, but could kill their grandparents by passing it to them

The child has come home feeling ill today, its probably just drama queen stuff. But, I expect the schools to announce they will close by monday. Keep safe lovely teacher (emergency worker, cleaner, forces, police, Dr's, nurses) the same as you, us in retail are on the front line, you are doing a great job and we truly appreciate it. X

I just thought, let's not also forget all the prison officers who are a massive part of our town, keep safe everyone x

Everyone is affected , more are at risk than others for underlying conditions.
Doesn't matter if you stack shelves in a shop or be a surgeon, firefighter , rich or poor , this virus doesn't discriminate.
Let's not kid ourselves here , most shop assistants will be out there for as much overtime money they can get whilst theres a chance to cash in.
Not on the same level as emergency services by any stretch of the imagination.

Hoping sneezing isn't one of the symptoms... Since Mr boss man has been here , looking rather ill with "a cold" whilst setting the working from home equipment up, I'm now sneezing & coughing.

Just hearing on TV news....a quarter of a million in UK alone expected to die in a year with virus. :o

Each person with virus ( lots not showing symptoms but can pass on) can pass on to at least 2 others.

I've been feeling uneasy for a while, but yesterday when I heard on the news that 20,000 fatalities would be considered a 'good' outcome was the first time it became more than that. I'm trying not to over react, but am considered to be higher risk if I get that virus than some due to a previous health condition.

I've spent the last hour or so gathering up the Ibroprufen, that's now all in a box behind the general medicine, the problem I now have is that I didn't panic buy and when I did decide to get a few supplies ibuprofen was pretty much all that was left in the shops, now I'm back to square one and on the hunt for Calpol.

I tried to book a Tesco delivery last night, it's all good as long as I don't want to eat anything prior to Saturday 4th April. I went to 8 shops on Monday looking for loo roll, I'm down to my last roll.

So the advice is stay inside and self isolate, but I have kids and a job (to be fair, my job yesterday said they don't want to see me in the office again so I'm at home with a VPN getting up at 5am trying to achieve something before it all crashes again at 9.15) I need to eat so I need to go out, If I find a shop with what I need and buy enough loo roll to last me to the 4th April I'm considered a selfish twat, and if I buy a pack of 6 rolls then before then I get to expose myself repeatedly to being seriously ill.

I don't know what the answer is.

Can you try and find out the time they stock the shelves? I know it's likely that lots of people are doing it, but it might be your best bet.

My brother in law went to Morrisons in Tamworth this morning (he works near) as they told him they will be stocked at 8am and he got some.

Alternatively, there are lots of groups on Facebook offering to do things for people - can you ask one of them?

Asda cannock had plenty of loo rolls and some medicines at 6:30am today. most was gone by 9. Security on the tills to stop bulk buying. Small shops seem to have some stock of items the supermarkets are running out of.

@Bob When I stopped off in a Shell petrol station out in the countryside the other night , they had a lot of stock on the shelves. Never looked if they had any loo roll, as I just wanted to pay for my fuel and get out of there (especially with the cashier coughing ). Might be worth looking places like that .

Co-op on stone road had yeast yesterday, first time I've seen that in a week! Decent flour is in short supply though.

For those who don't want to venture out, if you can't book a home delivery slot with a supermarket, try click & collect coupled with a taxi booking.

Of course, if they are out of stock, they are out of stock.

I have quite a bit of loo roll (I always buy in 36s) and I don't think I'm that far away from you. I could deliver you some tomorrow if you need. I'm still in the office today so can't do it til then.
