Are all toilet seats standard? Help fitting a new one, please...

There's a technique for using a broken toilet seat . Arrange the seat first so its level then gently lower yourself , evenly distributing the weight . Try not to make any sudden movements to ensure bum chedks aren't pinched by the seat sliding to one side :-D

Yes they are, unfortunatley they tend to fall to pieces after a few turds have been laid upon them. A half decent one with sturdy fixings will cost between £60 and £80 nowadays.

My current toilet seat came with the toilet, if it was purchased standalone it would probably cost £5.... been going strong for the last four years with no issues.

Its only stupid shaped toilet seats (sorry @db) that cost stupid amounts.... supply and demand...

no need to apologise, i agree!

one of the great things about having a new build so far has been the fact that everything is so "out of the box" and standard.. god knows why they have gone with a none-standard bog :grr:

Don't know whether you're sorted or not on this - B & Q foyer, soft close seats £10.00. Not sure if they are the correct size or shape - you can always buy one, offer it up unwrapped and get your money back if it's useless.
