no need to apologise, i agree!My current toilet seat came with the toilet, if it was purchased standalone it would probably cost £5.... been going strong for the last four years with no issues.
Its only stupid shaped toilet seats (sorry @db) that cost stupid amounts.... supply and demand...

Or arrepted severance of hanging fruit as a mate of mine almost found out.There's a technique for using a broken toilet seat . Arrange the seat first so its level then gently lower yourself , evenly distributing the weight . Try not to make any sudden movements to ensure bum chedks aren't pinched by the seat sliding to one side :-D
