    Rowing stats after 8 weeks:

    Calories burnt: 23,783
    Total time spent rowing: 26h:29min
    Weight lost: 10kg
    Metres: 400,000

In top 25% rank in world for age group for 5k, 30min
    Top 35% for 10k and 1hour

    Resting pulse: 42

Very happy with progress, highly recommend rowing. Push yourself hard on the machine and you can burn close to 600 calories in half an hour.

I've relaxed things a bit more now I'm not on such a push for the wedding!

I wore all of my bikinis (4) in Italy and considering it has rained every day since I've been back I don't suppose they'll get another whirl until next time I go abroad!

I can honestly say I was in the best shape of my life for my wedding - now? Who gives a toss - he's already married me!

No it's a result of athletic heart syndrome brought about from cycling 100+ miles per day every weekend in my youth. I damaged my knees and had to give up endurance cycling years ago. I used to play squash which gave me a good cardiac workout but again my knees became an issue and slowly I gained weight and my pulse crept up.
So far found rowing ideal, low stress on joints and very good at working the cardiovascular system.

13st 6lb two mornings in succession, which is about as good as it gets for me. That's about a stone above my ideal BMI, and while I might be able to chip away at that, I don't think I'd be too far away from hitting diminishing returns.

Well I'm down to 11st 10lb from 12st 11lb, after being told my blood sugar was too high
and now cutting out high sugar food, I didn't even try hard, just 10 min extra
walking the dog and cutting down on portions of food, funny thing is I do feel fitter
even tho my manly chest still wobbles as I walk down the stairs.

Resting pulse 42!! You must be very fit. I had a resting and pretty much everything pulse of 40 back in 1999 and ended up having a pacemaker fitted!

Sorry to hear that you don't appear that old from your profile image, assuming his is a self image.

I'm not concerned, I've had ECG tests which show pathological changes in the electrical system of my heart due to typical athletic adaptations. I'm in good health

Yes it is me in my profile image, and no I'm not old. Well I don't consider myself to be old at least, I guess it's all relative these days.
You don't actually have to be old to have a heart condition by the way - I was born with it!

Just back from Sivota and unsurprisingly I've gained a few pounds - up 5lbs from 13st 7lb to 13st 12lb. Maybe I should have eaten more of this and less of meat (but their meat is so good, and is half the reason we go to Greece .... though their tomatoes, courgettes, potatoes etc are fantastic as well).

ETA It wasn't the food that was the problem; it was the beer and wine with every meal.

However there were some pounds we were happy to gain while we were away. We returned to find a cheque for £1000 from the Katharine House lottery.:bananafunk:

I'll put some more up on the Holidays thread.

Anyway, having got beach body ready, here's a Greek tradition you'll be able to take part in - the Carving of the Baklava.

Probably not quite beach ready unless you mean beached whale ready but lovely day in the Yorkshire Dales today.

Now sitting with top off in cottage garden drinking a few pints of local "take out" from the pub over the road after a long but enjoyable walk this morning followed by pub lunch.

    No photos sorry Carole :)

Hi @Tinkerbell, just wondering how you're doing on the slimming world plan.
I joined in April this year and have made a good start. To date I have lost 2st 11 1/2 lb but for the last 3 weeks I seem to have stalled. Our consultant is great and really motivating but in the end its down to me. Its as if I'm suddenly not in the right frame of mind however, nothing has changed. To top it all off our fab consultant announced he is leaving, this week being his last.
It would be great to hear how you've got on.

I always tend to put on a bit of weight between October and January. A combination of less opportunity for excercise due to weather and darkness and greater opportunity for eating and drinking out in the evenings. Soon comes off again as spring approaches.

Focus on the long term goal rather than short term blips, one way or the other.
