First collection on the new calendar /days , the brown bin team blocked the driveway to 5 houses by lining them up across the entrance . Hope we get this good team again each time from now on.The old teams used to block my drive with the bins, and because the road is so narrow it was a real pain, that's not happening any longer.
I’m pretty sure they just ship it by the tonne to the third world and get them to sort it. I don’t think they really care that much about the details unless it’s stupid like nappies.
Would be interesting to find out what they actually do with the waste,
It is alleged that black plastics are generally discarded as they use light transmission to do a lot of the sorting.
Last year I was seeing a gobshite from Birmingham, he worked for a recycling company. They dealt mainly with retail waste and clinical waste from hospitals. He reckoned it weas a waste of time sorting stuff because the majority ended up in the same place. In the incinerator.
The stuff they could make money from was set aside, and the rest Birmingham city council just burnt.

He wants to put that gun down & empty the farking bins on the day he should...St. Georges bin man...
gone Rogue.
I can't understand the logic behind these new collections. Rather than starting at one end of the estate and working their way around, like they used to do , they are now driving backwards and forwards around the estate all day. The road next to ours was done at 8.45am last week, ours was done at 4pm ! When I walked around the ringroad that day there were some streets emptied and ones inbetween not yet done. Are they going around alphabetically or something???In St.Georges one side of the road is meant to have bins collected on a Monday with the other side of the road having them collected on a Wednesday (barmy!). Bin men appear to be ‘going rogue’ & collected all on a Wednesday now (we are on the ‘Monday’ side so our bins are having to sit outside for two days just in case!).
