Castletown Parking

Getting residents permits in Castletown sooner rather than later would be no bad thing, since at some point the construction of a new multi-storey car park at the station will begin - which will mean closure of the car park. Obviously that's going to displace a lot of people who use the car park now elsewhere. There's supposed to be temporary arrangements, but I guess rail users will be looking to park as close to the station as possible.

I've just received the hand-delivered info pack, consisting of:

An intro letter where it states that there is adequate residential parking in the area overnight, so the permits will be required during the core daytime period.

A list of the proposed fees (£50 per annum, £25 for Hybrid Vehicles).

A map of the area showing what is proposed and where.

The original questionnaire giving residents the chance to tell the council what they would like to happen and why.

It all looks pretty good to me, with the exception of Jerningham Street where they have proposed that the parking bays be on the left hand side as you enter from Doxey Road when surely, as is the case now, the best place to park is opposite the houses on the right hand side?! Am going to email them now as this must be a mistake.

If anyone didn't get it or didn't return the questionnaire last time then do it this time. If you own your house but don't drive please don't just ignore it...this directly affects the price of your home and increases desirability for potential buyers. Never a bad thing!

Half price for hybrids is an interesting one... They still take up the same space on the road as anything else!!

If any of you have not returned your last survey for the Castletown Residents parking scheme the closing date is the 31st of January, and the council need a 60% in favour vote to continue their investigations into starting the scheme.

If you don't agree with the fees, then tell them so, but they need your forms back with feedback.

Thanks.

As we've established, parking is at a premium in Castletown. Surely no reason for someone to attempt to park their car in my lounge last night??! :grr:

Seriously..

oh mate, thats rubbish. did you see who did it? has anybody got any info?

when that happened at mine i was lucky that a neighbour was off sick and saw everything and got the drivers details.

even more amazingly, they provided the correct details and i was able to claim off their insurance.

thats a reall bummer, but it does give you the kick up the bum to get the front yard sorted in summer- it did me anyway.

Well...it's rubbish that it happened, but I needed to do something with the front bit anyway so it's actually worked out pretty well. I just hope the chap who crashed is ok.

When I got up (yes...I slept through the whole thing!) there was a note through my door saying there'd been a road accident, with the chap's details, the cop who attended's details etc, so all good.

well youre sorted then. if the driver had insurance, you can claim for the repairs on that.

my bro may be able to help you out with that- he used to do roofing and bricklaying....and hes a dab hand at digging!

ill send you his no if youre interested.

Are you claiming for whiplash :D must have jolted your house big style!
Now you mention it...

*rubs aching neck*
and presumably the tremor completely smashed your 50" LCD TV, yeah?
Correctamundo. It would have been fine if my £100k antique chandelier hadn't dropped from the ceiling.

Just spoken to the bloke and he's fine...skidded on ice and lost control. No injuries and, unbelievably, the car only has scratches and both front wheels screwed. Very lucky.
