Its a tad worrying when a place has to do 'deals' on food
More worrying, at least for them, when they don't on account of having closed.

Sort of thing.

Well me & my dad went to Chambers last night with the intention of taking advantage of their £7.50 meal deal jobber, but ended up having something off the main menu.

We both had Cutlet of pork, wholegrain mashed potato, black pudding, Savoy cabbage & apple puree...and it was absolutely delicious! The pork was perfectly cooked (still moist and just cooked) and overall it was a great meal. The only shame was that the place was pretty much dead so there wasn't much of an atmosphere.

My dad is a massive food snob and commented that it was one of the best meals he's had in AGES! I'll be returning in the near future.

Mrs King and I had another really enjoyable evening meal here on Valentines's Day. Soused mackerel for starter, chicken with a red pepper mouse filling for the main and bread and butter pudding for dessert. The range of beers is always impressive. I do hope that they are successful.

Roll on Chambers - good food, drinks and none of the usuual(sic) stafford(sic) crowd

t(sic)ally ho!
I miss bignico and his/her crazy ways with the lingo. And with the massively misunderstanding people in general.

What we really need is more people like that.

Went for lunch today. Excellent service and the food was very nice. Didn't push the boat out too far but a Steak Wrap and a Duck wrap both with proper chips went down well. Tad on the expensive side but won't stop us going back to sample the main menu at some point.

so, after reading through the comments, the criticisms, and the " we had a lovely time etc", just one question. Is it any good?
Please rate 1 as being crap and 10 as being excellent. I welcome your comments.

would have been better starting your own post Kalel, heavens knows this thread needs to be put to rest!

to answer your question Kalel ...10/10, last visit i had was a Tuesday evening at 6ish, i went for the pie night and it was perfect, not many customers in but still this place is simply great!

how anyone could rate this place less than a 9 is beyond me, they must have a nightmare in there for that score, but well each to their own.

...why don't you just go along and see!

Why? If kalel had have started a new thread about Chambers, I would have simply merged it with this one!

There are so many good reports in this thread, I haven't got time to count them all. There are also some bad ones, as you will find with most goods/service outlets. It's important to allow people to voice their opinions, good or bad. The most important thing, as you say, is:

Popped in for the first time on Saturday with the intention of having food and left without trying any. I wasn't impressed by the ale selection, I wasn't impressed by the menus being just thrown in a pile by the door and when I read the menu I wasn't impressed with what I saw.

Maybe I missed out in not giving it a chance but after all the good reviews in here, I expected to read something a little more impressive than normal pub grub but tarted up a bit and more expensive.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of tarted up pub food - I think the slightly more relaxed feel to Chambers adds to it all - I sometimes wish the menu selection was a little bit larger, and occasionally the service is a little slow but I've never had a bad meal or a reason to complain.

Off to Chambers on Sunday lunch time for a family gathering. Second visit to Chambers albeit five months apart. After first visit, looking forward to second time.
Anybody know what beers they have on at the moment?

I noticed tables and chairs outside today, wasn't aware they had a pavement license. Wasn't that one of the things that killed the hogshead?
