Going to say goodbye now, although I doubt any of you will miss me particularly.

3 reasons really.

1) We now live in Wolverhampton, and I feel no real ties to Stafford. I was born in S-O-T and raised in Yarnfield.

2) Tha lack of moderation on here, both from the 'moderators' and by many of the members themselves. I mean, seriously, posting a pic of a penis to call another member a dick? Not to mention all of DB's posts that consist solely of him attacking people, without actually even contributing anything to the post....

3) My grammer and use of English aren't perfect (but they are a lot better than that of 95% of internet users...), and to be blunt if I wanted English lessons I would ask for them. So when mods join in with the pedantic and pathetic nit picking (read grammer nazis...), especially ones who are supposed to be the nicest people on here, I see that as a good indication that it's time to walk away.

There are plenty of very nice people on here, it's a shame that a handfull of douche bags, and a lack of guidance and moderation, spoil it.

Flounce? Very much so and unashamedly. Do I think this site is an "old boy's club"? No, I just think that douche bags+no moderation= a forum I can't really be bothered to support.

Here's the crazy thing, it's not even HC and Hothouse that have made me feel this way, it's the idiots like Dirty Bobby.

It's a shame that you have flounced. The posts that are irritating and wind people up tend to make a forum more interesting in my opinion.

Alas, you made this clear in your probably ill-concieved post where you said:

Not the best thing to publicly announce on a forum dedicated to exactly that subject! Still, our policy here of complete freedom of speech prevented any kind of censorship in this regard.

I assume you are referring to this post, which has an image of Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I'm not sure why on Earth you think it's a picture of a penis!

When you say "lack of guidance and moderation," you seem to mean "lack of censorship," which is one of the key pillars of the Stafford Forum community!

There is plenty of moderating activity on The Forum; it is for exactly this reason that I have had to bring in a few people to help me as I couldn't keep up with it and do it all myself anymore, as I used to on the old Forum!

You even said in another post:

Which would seem to imply that you think the moderating is over-zealous, if anything!

You will be missed, but I get the impression that anything I say would be fighting a losing battle on this occasion.

I've always though we self-moderate rather well. Plus I've stopped using several forums where moderation was heavy handed, try disagreeing with a member of staff on the overclockers forum and you get all your posts deleted as if they never happened!

I just wanted to interject.. that Picard image... is a meme on the internet.. this is the reason for the concept of FACEPALMING. When you palm > face when someone is being moronic. It's not a penis or calling anyone a dick. I don't see how it looks like a penis. Maybe I'm too innocent (LOL) or just I've seen it a billion times in response to idiocy. Who knows.

I have just read through the Burger King thread and the only douche bag that I can see in that thread is you.

Me thinks that you think very highly of youself and expect to get the kind of responses people gave to WMR -it's not really happening for you!

Ah yes, WMR is a long standing, well respected pillar of the community who knows a lot of forumites personally, and has probably traded with a fair proportion of other forumites. As I recall he's put on shows for local people to raise money for local charities. He has provided IT services, eggs and mulled wine, often selling himself short to come to the aid of others. He's a thoroughly nice chap, both online and in real life and will do anything to help you out.

Wolfenrook can't even begin to compete with that, and although it's not a competition, wolfenrook seems to have made it his personal competition. Realising this has almost certainly made him feel smaller than patrick stewarts cute little penis head and as such his toys have been flung from his pigmy sized pram with quite some force.
