Johnson has said in parliament that those who were told to shield last time should WFH.
But what about those that can't wfh, we have plenty of staff that had to shield last time. Would they have to stay at home unpaid?

I'm all for closing the schools but what do we do with the children? Myself and partner both work and cannot work from home so we would be relying on grandparents who are all over 70
So it's not about children getting educated then ?

Kids are successfully educated at home all the time. What's more important is keeping everybody safe and well.

I'm also aware that this is easy for me, my eldest children are grown up, my youngest is 15 and able to look after herself at home while I'm (and the carer if not furloughed) at work. I have absoloutly no idea what I would do if my kids were still young, or if I was a working single parent. It must be horrendous, some of the choices/enforced decisions I've heard about are horrific. (your 11yr old can safely look after a 7yr old on their own in the house for 9hrs whole you work, or give up your job if you can't find alternative childcare).

Well I didn't expect that :) It's not like the Supermarkets are shutting down is it?
My place of work was horrific on Saturday & Sunday, I can't believe the stupidity & selfishness of people after what happened last time, and I'm really thankful I'm on holiday for a while, although I've already been asked if I can go in.

We tried to go to Big Tesco today, to buy booze for tonight as we both have the day off tomorrow. 15 mins queueing to get to the car park, by which time we had decided we weren't going to bother go in, as the queue was all the way to the back of the car park to get out. We were then gridlocked in traffic for 45 mins. We ended up waiting till later in the day and popping over to Lidl when my car was ready to collect - no queues there, I didn't notice any empty shelves, only 2 tills open but as quick and efficient as ever.

Just booked a table in the Bird for Wednesday teatime to watch the footy and pub grub with my son before the lockdown.

Thankfully United are playing at 1755 so we should be long gone before the "last pint, we're all in the same bubble" numpties roll up.

Saw this on FB and agree with it.
I also think Sainsburys need to bring back the queueing system in the bottom aisle. Was a right free for all earlier this afternoon.

Having worked in supermarkets for 8 years I genuinely feel bad for all the supermarket workers during this lockdown. They seem to get the shitty end of the stick everytime.
Not only are most of them on minimum wage and apart from dealing with self righteous gobshites who won’t wear a mask for 20 mins they have to wear one for 8 hours, they deal with panic buyers and rude, nasty people day in day out and are expected to have a smile all day long.
So if you encounter a Supermarket worker try not to be an arsehole and remember there’s a a human behind the uniform who are just as worried and anxious like the rest of us

We have a mutual affliction - he is NJ on here, but not for a long time now...
Under that guise, he did the fencing panels and 2 gates in our back garden,
Met himsen and his Mum on the troll bridge heading to Sainsburys once, she called him by his Sunday name! Bit of a shock, always thought it was what everyone calls him.

He did a job for me with his Dad, who did that, too - it was like he was an imposter.

The info I have (from Sunday 1st Nov) says that this will not happen, I seriously hope that the powers that be will change their mind soon.

Thank you for sharing the other part of my fb post though, it's so true, we are all under so much pressure, sharing is caring. UP THE WORKERS! :slayer:

*edit, I should point out that my names not Dave, I just shared his post. :slayer:
