Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

Do you really want to invest the time required in getting the driver to court, for what is a minor incident and which was probably a genuine accident?

It won't go to court, it'll just get registered on a computer system somewhere so they're more likely to get pulled for other stuff (I hope!).

"Splashing falls under section three of the Road Traffic Act 1988, and can often be punished through a fixed penalty notice."

It's not like they couldn't see me, otherwise they were driving without due care and attention.

Enjoying a drop of red.
If they couldn't see you or the puddle then it's driving without due care and attention.

If they could see you and still did it then it's dangerous driving.

Only a lack of independent witnesses stands in the way.

They should still be paying to have your clothes cleaned though.

At what point does surface water due to rain become a puddle. Every driver is human. I wouldn't allow a splash to ruin my day. I challenge you to find a driver who has never made a mistake. At present I haven't seen anything that suggests it isn't a genuine accident. If it was deliberate by all means report it otherwise just get on with your day.

Sorry but I slow down passing pedestrians when I'm on a pushbike just in case, on the motorbike I ensure I don't hit any puddles near a pedestrian. It's really easy to do, just takes more attention than this driver was paying to the road. The puddle was on the right hand side of the road so he was as far over as he could possibly go, to the point it's hard to believe it wasn't deliberate now I think about it.

Helped me make my decision though, thanks. Gonna report it tomorrow lunchtime and let the police decide what to do. I'll still keep my eye out though, not many metallic brown ford's about.

I got fed up with getting splashed one rainy day a few months back. I decided - the next ****** who splashes me is getting reported, so I noted the reg number of every car as it came towards me. My eyesight's less than perfect so it was obvious I was reading them (leaning forwards a bit) and incredibly, once I started doing that, they all managed to see the puddles and avoid splashing me.

I usually walk right on the kerb, and like you say they magically stay further away from the puddles. Just prove they don't pay attention unless someone makes them.

Hi

Vaguely related, the largest puddle I see regularly is on the way in to Haughton. Right by the bus stop. Regularly covers half the road.

All the best

Proof this morning that speed limit signs do work, well the 30 MPH sign at the end of Dick's Lane in Woodseaves certainly slowed down the driver of a black Astra that ploughed into it this morning. Even valet parked it for him in the hedge, backwards. Judging by the state of things I feel speed may have been a contributory factor!

Surely this is the fault of Gordon Brown

Knew a chap some years ago who was prosecuted for making offensive telephone calls to his ex wife. Trouble was he'd got a wrong number and was harrowing a complete stranger in the early hours of the mornings.
Was known as Buzby for ages.
