Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

The idea (I presume) is to allow more cars to queue on Chell Road, as they are obstructed by the lights - unfortunately, the (almost always empty) bus lane stops it being two lane all the way to the roundabout - this could have been addressed when Sainsbury's plans were submitted, but it wasn't. It would then have been a simple matter, but now it isn't.

We are dealing with the British motorist here and this sort of give-and-take thing is never a good idea.

Perhaps vast numbers will use the WAR when it opens and reduce the queuing issue here.....

I understood Chell Road was either going to be padestrianised or become 'shared' user space.

Somewhere amongst all the County Council reports, regarding the Western Access Road, is a proposal to restrict traffic on Chell Road, once the Western Access Road is open.

Car drivers aren't really keen on sharing with each other...

Traffic is (un)fairly restricted there now...

STAFFORD BOROUGH
INTEGRATED TRANSPORT STRATEGY 2013-2031

6.16
Town centre traffic management
Traffic management measures within the town are proposed to discourage through traffic on Eastgate Street and reduce the impact of traffic generated by the Riverway and Kingsmead retail developments. In the longer term, the delivery of the Western Access Route will provide the opportunity to downgrade the A518 along Chell Road, Victoria Road and Station Road. As a result, the pedestrian environment, public realm and bus interchange facilities will be enhanced on Chell Road

I think we all know what the rules are, so there's no need to talk down to anybody about using both lanes.
The real issue is, people whput their foot down and roar to the front of the feeder lane like they have a divine right to get there first.
Using both lanes, taking your time and using a zipper system to feed in - YES
Acting like a complete arse and forcing your way in, as to nearly confront oncoming traffic - NO

I use this road every day and also experience it but refuse to be "that dick who pushes in".

Exactly, sensible use of both lanes will help the flow of traffic off the island. Idiots that rush right to the end of the feeder lane and bully their way in will only wind up folks in the inside lane as inside laners that refuse to give an inch wind up the outside laners.
Drive and let drive.

Nope, when I was taught to drive, way back in the early '90s, I was told, you only enter the yellow box if the exit is clear. Something I believe still holds.
You can enter a box junction and stop in it, if you are turning right and your exit is only blocked by oncoming traffic, if your exit would be clear without the oncoming traffic preventing you from using it.

People who don't understand this are often to be seen on Lichfield Road, hanging back at the stop line when their light is green to turn into the Hough and then not being able to take advantage of a short break in the incoming traffic.

It also used to happen a lot at the Grapes, when cars could still go up Bridge Street.

Gaol Square, of course, never has any oncoming traffic to allow this clause to be invoked.

If drivers were taught to "zip" when two lanes become one then a lot of the rage issues would be placated. Drivers would then become accustomed to helping alleviate the problem caused at such places.

In the end, it is us, the drivers, who need to help one another to get around these issues which are caused by the Highways Department being complete tools when they do stupid things.

Just got soaked by a gold piece of crap, Was walking down Marston Road, it hit a puddle fast enough that the resultant wave hit my coat and completely covered my lower half.

Report him.

I see that you've made the news @tek-monkey , in Somerset at least.

You are bloody joking?!
I queue up for what seems ages and some prick comes roaring up the second lane, and I'm expected let them in? No bloody chance. They can queue like the rest of us.

I tend to agree. It is polite to queue in the left hand lane. I think it is nuts that there are 2 lanes which go down to just one lane right after the roundabout before the lights. I can't bring myself to use the right lane and then cut in in front of everyone else. It is not in my nature. It is about being polite on the road. I can see why there are numerous horns being blown and drivers gesticulating at each other round by Sainsburys. It is such a ridiculous setup. 2 lanes around by Sainsburys all the way along would be better. As would switching the pedestrian crossing lights off, as has been shown has benefitted everyone in the current Foregate Street roadworks.

I think the point is that if it was in your nature, and in the nature of those around you, it might shift a few more people off the roundabout a bit quicker.

Just like the people who take the right hand lane to take the A518 to Newport, i expect it'll happen any day now...

What does the highway code state?
Section 134
You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lanes as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.

Or pretend you are new to the town and it's pure coincidence that you have a Lefroy Out bumper sticker

Merging it turn doesn't work very well by Sainsburys because it is a ridiculous setup, the traffic is always stationary and there is only 20 yards to merge, and also on a corner, with possibility of having to stop suddenly due to pedestrians crossing. Real chance of a serious accident. Merging in turn is usually reserved for long straight areas of road with upcoming roadworks in the right hand lane.

Merging in turn works if you want it to and actually do it. Consideration towards other road users helps even if those road users are being complete and utter dickheads.
