I think it's just in general, if someone has made it clear they don't want it mentioning, then people repeatedly insisting that they know the answer, and continuing to post things that were said "a few years ago" could feel a little harassing.

Someone may not wish their gender revealing for any number of reasons - respecting that costs nothing.

And frankly considering it was immediately followed up by a derogatory comment based on the perceived gender "Definatley female. The tone of your voice and the condescending last sentance confirmed it for me" ... well, perhaps they aren't entirely unjustified in thinking their views would be taken less seriously if someone were to think they were a female.

I wouldnt take a females views any less seriously than a males, although i would find it strange that her husband would allow her out of the kitchen to spend time on a computer when she could be making him sandwiches. :quagmire:

... don;t ... think that non-believers do nothing for community. They do, alot,
A major contributor to community in particular, and charity in general, are of course football clubs. and football isn't a religion.

Oh wait, yes it is - oh well, there goes my point.

Can you please clarify @Admin because I am confused.

So if a forum member themselves discloses what sex they are in a post, for example saying something along the lines of "I am a mother" leading one to deduce that the person is Female, we, are NEVER allowed to refer to that fact in case they have changed sex and dont want anyone to know?

I peronally don't see how by mentioning something that they have referred to themselves in another post is contavening private information.

In my opinion anyone who complains about someone referring to something that they themselves have previously disclosed is guilty of a massive over reaction.

I am fairly sure that until very recently a certain person's profile specified a gender, now it does not. This might imply that they no longer want their gender known, in spite of having mentioned it in a number of posts. :?:

I really struggle to see why the identity or gender of the body behind the user name and avatar even matters. I barely keep track of who is posting what, let alone what they insinuated a few years ago. If someone has decided that they don't like having their gender known or speculated about, then it's not for me to decide otherwise.

Had they mentioned previously that they wanted to be perceived as gender neutral? For the record I am male and I don't mind any of you thinking of me as such. Well, you can think of me as a woman if that floats your boat, or even as an axlotl, cos it doesn't actually matter to me how you think of me as your are internet people and therefore are not real. Unless I've met you, obviously.

I don't think it's even a matter of gender neutral. The whole thing is irrelevant.

Totally derailing the topic further. My biology teacher kept an axlotl in a tank in his classroom. Those thing are invincible. Naturally there were plenty of chemicals available in the classroom and throughout my time at that school the kids used to feed it said chemicals regularly. The axlotl was still doing fine when i left, with that grin on its face, slowly dancing as they do at the glass, as if to taunt them.
