Have your say on Victoria Park.

I'd like to see the atrium re-done (it looks so shabby) and like the idea of a cafe (given the current kiosk is only open on nice days). The odd event is fine, but I really don't want any major change to it's purpose. It's a lovely place to take the dog for a walk, people watch and get some peace and quiet - just what a park should be.

I posted elsewhere recently that the lady from the council said in the newsletter that one of the ideas was to have big screen TV in the park to show live football games. In the words of Shania.....that don't impress me much

There is talk of open air cinema in the proposals, which would need a screen

Victoria park is better left as it is , why tamper with a section that floods , the monies are from S106 as the council do not adopt small play areas built on new developments , as they should , examples of this are all over the borough ,

To be fair the park need some work. The station side is looking tatty such as the mottram stand and section of grass and plant beds that no longer exists because people use them as cut through as they are too lazy to use paths.

the path from the stations floods at the slighest heavy down poor, so much so the grass verges by the morrtam stand are bare and tatty.

I would like the station side to be fenced and gated so it can be locked up at night to stop undesirables hanging around. Aviary needs some work and I lile the idea of a cafe overlooking the river.

classy events are ok but no football big screens this is not hyde park. Drunks will just make a mess of the place. Please no cutting down trees, totally unnecessary.

I walk through it a lot and the South side really does need some love.

Wherever possible, play areas will be provided on the development site. However, where this is not feasible or there is already existing provision nearby an off site contribution is made. Perfectly sensible and this is common practice across the Country.

Going past the park today in the lovely sunshine, I can't help but think it was a bit of an oversight to cut all the branches off the trees by the riverbank as they provided suitable shade during the summer for parents and children alike.

To be fair the Willow trees grow ridiculously fast and are cut/ pollarded every couple of years as they reach the water line, those hanging branches will have grown back in no time at all.
