What??? Noooooo! I'm so sorry to hear that - it just seems tragic that Karma closes while inferior places prosper! Will you be keeping the Karma in Dudley? We might not be able to make the trip often but at least we can get an occasional Karma fix. Thank-you for many wonderful meals and lovely evenings - including a big surprise on my birthday when you not only prepared something special but brought an orchid and card. We'll certainly miss our favourite place to eat.

Having eaten there a good few times I'd rather pay a few quid extra for a proper good curry than some of the food I've had from other places in Stafford. It really is good...as you'll see from the rest of this thread.

edit: ..I can only assume that's what you're on about.

Honestly it was horrible. The bread was like cardboard, the curry was half oil (and this is not an exageration) and there was no evidence of quality ingredients whatsoever!

Although, it does seem this thread has many a good report, maybe we were just unlucky. I don't think there is any amazing Indian restaurants in Stafford though!

Can only assume you got really unlucky, i don't eat out often but have been to karma at least a dozen times and always felt it was better than anywhere else I've tried. Where do you go when not in stafford?

When not in Stafford we like to posh it up a bit and go to Lasan's in Birmingham, yummy food, fab service )

Going by previous threads posted in I doubt it TBH, but must have been damn unlucky at Karma as they are the first person I've heard slate it.

You're a very suspicious person, Glam; every time someone recommends a place, you infer that they work there!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, jk_hello. As you said yourself, going by the myriad of glowing reports in this thread it seems you were just unlucky!

Very sorry to hear of the demise of Karma II, ashi.karma. Best of luck with whatever venture you move on to.

Sorry Mr Admin,just seems very funny whenever a person comes on and slates somewhere,then in next breathe they say such n such a place is wonderful.
Even tho I'm not in the kitchen at St.Georges anymore,I still think their steak pies are very nommy and it's really sad that people can't just walkin off the street and sample them. And the flapjack is very mmmmmm too. Lucky I pinched the recipe before I left!

I live and work in Stafford, just go to brum from time to time for evenings out, although they are becoming considerably rare!
