Morrisons coming to Stafford?

I have a friend who used to manage a B & M. They make about 20% profit margin. Given they sell branded goods at less than the supermarkets, I've not got a problem if their signage isn't premium.

I wanted two slate serving platters, saw some in Trentham garden centre reduced from £20 to £10, but I ended up not getting them because they were too small.

I found these in B&M, larger than the Trentham ones and only £2.99 each. I'm very happy with my bargain.
I agree that they sell a fair bit of tat, but there are some little treasures to be found if you take the time to look.

I tend to buy tinned goods and toiletries from there. My preferred bargain retailer is Home and Bargain (it did used to be called this didn't it?!) but there's a B&M in walkable distance from work so I tend to find myself there on my Friday lunchtime walk.

Home Bargains is great, you can find all sorts of stuff way cheaper in there. The Mouthwash I use is half the price it is in the major supermarkets, and the 25p noodles are cheap and cheerful when you need something quick - and can be spruced up with whatever my wife puts in them to make them actually taste of something.

They have a lot of things you generally won't find in many other places too. I have a Fennec Fox ornament out front that I've only ever see in HB.

I had always assumed B&M and Home Bargain were in fact the same company but some amount of googling would appear they are not, they just have internal branding similarities. Either way I find them both very useful so I'm looking forward to having a B&M in the town centre.

Likewise aldi and lidl, many of their weekly specials have very similar labelling. So much that I once saw a mexican sauce that had literally just had the logo changed, and it was even still the same shape.

Looking on HUKD it becomes obvious that our B&M carries a lot less stock than many others, hopefully this new store will remedy that.

I thought they had common ancestry - turns out they do not.

Is Kingsmead car park open now? I assume it is with B&M open - or do you have to hike it to the store entrance?? What's the parking fee - or is it free?? Has it taken pressure off the other car parks?? Is there a long-stay option back on Kingsmead car park? Is it underwater??

These are all critical questions now that the defunct Morrison's building is now partly open!!

We should name it the Ghost of Morrisons Shopping Centre.
