I have a friend who used to manage a B & M. They make about 20% profit margin. Given they sell branded goods at less than the supermarkets, I've not got a problem if their signage isn't premium.
I had always assumed B&M and Home Bargain were in fact the same company but some amount of googling would appear they are not, they just have internal branding similarities. Either way I find them both very useful so I'm looking forward to having a B&M in the town centre.
Likewise aldi and lidl, many of their weekly specials have very similar labelling. So much that I once saw a mexican sauce that had literally just had the logo changed, and it was even still the same shape.
The confusion arises from there being two Aldis - Nord & Sud, not that the customer would really notice much difference.I thought they had common ancestry - turns out they do not.

Slightly odder, if anything - we are Aldi Sud - but Aldi Nord operates in Denmark and Spain...Bit like Korea then?
