The problem with the Lidl taking it over is, according to this http://www.lxbretailproperties.com/retail-investment-portfolio/10/stafford-kingsmead/, the Stafford "Morrison's" site is 71,500 sq ft.

Currently, the largest Lidl, according to this http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/planning-go-ahead-for-lidl-s-largest-uk-supermarket-1.1192066, is (or will be) 15,295 sq ft.

Lidl's current car-park is feeling the strain now - and the Western Access Route won't cause any improvements to it.

I've never been in a Morrisons, but the colours of the thing they're building do have a Lidl look about them.

I would wager the current sainsburys is larger than the new store....

Personally I'd be amazed if lidl moved in without splitting the site.... And I guess they wouldn't have a petrol station either...

According to this document http://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/live/D...TRE-CAPACITY-ASSESSMENT-FINAL-REPORT-2011.pdf Sainsbury's is 45,348 sq ft (4,213 sq m), so it would also seem to be too big for Lidl.

I asked the Morrisons Twitter team when the store was opening. I got this reply.

So... they don't know and aren't giving anything away. I did reply back saying there are rumours going around the town that they won't be taking possession of the finished store but didn't get a reply.
