The King's Arms currently has a sign up "Beer shortages coming soon - please panic buy!"

Oh, and the tanker drivers in Helmand seem to have some safety issues, and, I would imagine, they get paid a little bit less..

Going to be a inccident on that road soon (by the petrol station near asda) people drive like crazy on that road sometimes, and it's always busy...

Oh, and don't forget if they do strike will be a 7 day notice period, then you could understand a little.

Union said negotiations start Monday. They've got about 24 days before the strike ballot needs to be rerun. I reckon they'll give it a week and if employers cock about they'll aim to set a strike to start when people go back to work after the school holidays. That way the drivers get to build some OT and premium hours up over Good Friday and Easter.

Sandon Road - Shell had a sign saying Sorry No Fuel this morning at about 9am when I passed...

- People still seemed to be trying to fill up though... weird! ;)

OK, so just been to fill up (put 45 litres in the car - the petrol light was on!), went to Lamascote Road Esso, They have no diesel and only have 2000 litres of unleaded left, but have 20,000 litres of both on order... but they have no estimate on delivery time or even date.... (overheard them talking)... :)

- Paid 135.9 - so doesnt look like they've put up prices...

The average profit margin for a fuel retailer is between 2p-3p/litre. That means that if a forecourt is selling out 20,000 litres in a day, they are getting a profit of between £400-£600 a day, of which overheads, employee wages, franchise fees, licensing etc is taken out. Adding on a range of shopping goods and services such as a car wash and pre-packed meals will increase the profit.

The guy at Murco said that even by Thursday lunchtime they had sold 15,000 litres of fuel.

Went past Esso/Tesco at Rising Brook at about 7.20 last night, pumps were coned off whilst a delivery was taking place. People had started to queue on the forecourt. Fair enough if you've got however long it takes to discharge a tanker to hang around, but then some numptys had actually started to queue on the Wolverhampton Road thereby blocking the road so other motorists could not continue outwards towards penkridge. Traffic backed up all the way to Highfields turn and beyond.
What complete and utter stupid selfish t*ss*rs.
I am usually quite laid back in a 'live & let live' sort of way but this lot, although I was going the other way and not affected, really angered me for being so stupid and selfish. What an indictment on the intelligence of motorists!
Sorry, rant over.

A garage owner on Radio 4 this week was saying the opposite - that all the extra fuel sold was of no real benefit to him because none of the extra customers were buying anything in the shop whilst there.

I see petrol sales are up far more than diesel. Less numpties drive diesel cars than petrol then!! :P

£1.44 (approx) the end of this week £1.54 end of next week and you will not see that price come down, perhaps 2p when the supermarkets have a 2 day fuel price war but that's that, the only thing this is helping is the producers of petrol/fuel, not us, not the government, just the petrol garage owners; BP; Esso; Shell etc.

No one can blame the faceless as there isn't a face to punch, so we'll blame the government eh.

Everyone settle down, and stop getting in the way of my commute.

...anyone else kinda a little disappointed they called of a strike (if they ever intended too!) in an evil sort of way, just to spite the numpty-alien-like car owners?

ok, bored now.
