All fixed, was an issue with the java script... you shouldn't have a problem now. Regards.

Also I believe LS Fitness is currently waving joining charges for those interested. I went and used the gym myself for the first time on Friday. Without trying to sound too bias it was a massive improvement from my last gym.

Be sure to visit and have a look around.

On a serious note, I think Stafford Leisure Centre, the Uni sports centre and Gym & Tonic are all waiving joining fees at the moment so this seems to be a standard offer.

I think the former of the two above are also doing no contract at the moment too for £25 and £28 respectively. How does this compare to LS Fitness? (Could look on the website but thought it would be helpful to others for it to be on here).

LS Fitness does look nice to be fair - to be expected with it being new I suppose.

Its currently £34 'no contract' with LS Fitness. But, I suspect if you go in have a look around and speak with the staff they are bound to have offers on to encourage new sign up with just opening.

The one I know of is the £180 for the year which works out at £15 per month. Its a bargain, but you need to pay up-front.

I'll be going across this evening so I'll have a word and update.

Another little update. Classes will be starting next week, free for members, charges for non members.

Classes include, Zumba, Spinning, Boxercise, legs bums & tums & Curcuit training.

Also a Krav Maga class will be starting soon by a guy called Alan Dennis. I think this is the organisation website as opposed to his personal site http://www.astarkravmaga.co.uk. Not sure on the prices but it will be discounted for gym members.

Didn't realise that it was actually right by hubbys work .Very convenient should I decide to join.

Had a look in this morning as I dropped him off and had a tour around................... Very Impressive!

Ladies only area is upstairs and has an assortment of the usual gym equipment (not those toning tables ). It overlooks the gym so if using that you would still feel part of it,rather than being stuck away in a seperate room . Then there's some stairs leading down to the main part with a big range of equipment and loads of space.

Also a nice big studio upstairs for classes.

Ladies changing/shower rooms looked good as well.

The bloke was really friendly and I left really considering going along once my Beaconside membership is up.

A few days ago, when it was fairly breezy, the sign that was on the grass here had blown over - I stood it back up, but it seemed a bit unsteady in the conditions - it might be worth seeing if you could increase the weight in the base or, maybe, have a couple of pegs handy for the windier weather...

Hi, I checked your website, but I might have missed it - have you got a full list of what classes are on when - do all the classes come under the £4.70 pay per go fee?

I just called about the membership, I think they've already got their 100 members as they arent now doing the £180 membership, the guy I spoke to said they'd all gone. He said their current special deal is now £239 for the year. I think Gym & Tonic are still offering £199, but with the lighter evenings I might just get the mountain bike out.

Sorry guys that's my fault, I'll be updating the site this week. classes photos, prices, offers etc.

£180 isn't available any more, they sold like hotcakes. £239 is the new yearly price.

You are also partly correct in regards to Gym & Tonic, they do indeed advertise a £199 price but also charge a £35 joining fee for 18 month contracts and also charge for classes.

LS Fitness Yearly offer is £239.99 Free classes including Legs bums & tums, Zumba, Cicuits, Spinning, & Core blast. This will be expanding.

For a fee they also have a martial arts class, Krav Maga. Which is on a Wednesday 7-pm - 9pm.

For those interested in the classes for the rest of this week...

Wednesday, Zumba Express 9.30-10.15am, Spinning 6.30 - 7pm, Krav Maga 7pm-9pm (fee)
Thursday, Legs Bums Tums 9.30-10.15am, Circuits 6.30pm-7.25pm
Friday, Legs Bums Tums 9.30-10.15am

All the classes are available to non members for a fee. Free for members excluding Krav.

I'll put up the full timetable before the end of the week.

Mountain bike sounds like a good idea Glued2, plenty on here might go for a ride with you if you don't have riding companions already.

Is it just me that thinks £35 / £40 for an induction fee is very high? I mean they are charging you to learn to use something that you are going to be paying them a lot of money to use..... what if you don't need an induction because you've used gyms loads before.... I guess every gym is "special" so you still need to do it...

Anyway I think the Uni have a £200 for the year offer with no induction fee... not sure though.

Just to clarify, Gym & Tonic do not charge an additional fee of £35 (or any other hidden costs) with their £199 for 12 months membership. All their memberships options can be found on their website:

http://gym-tonic.net/gym-and-tonic/stafford-gym/join-today/

Currently classes are not included in these memberships but all classes are discounted for members. Prices start from £3 for members depending on the class.

Hope this helps any of the confusion.

There's not really an induction fee at LS Fitness its just £239. I was just breaking it down in marketing speak :D

I've personally moved to using the gym from my old place Gym & tonic, Its slightly more expensive, but worth every penny, the range of equipment is just so much better. The staff are a lot more helpful too. Actually if you consider the 3 classes I've been too this week it remarkably cheaper. Spinning was a killer last night, good fun though.

Obviously my opinions is slightly bias but the proofs in the pudding, you pay for what you get at the end of the day, visits LS Fitness and get a free trial. You can also try out the classes.

Mr Dawson please, less of the marketing speak, this is a family forum!

You quite clearly stated "£199 with £39.99 induction fee" relating to joining LS Fitness and have on numerous occasions stated you have a business relationship with them in that you obviously know Steve (assuming he's the owner), do their website and are involved in the online marketing efforts. This would say your opinions are hardly unbiased.

So in reality, without the marketing bull ...I mean speak ... Gym and Tonic are £199 for a year and LS Fitness are £239 for the year.

How is LS Fitness better? From what I've seen it's got 4 treadmills, 4 rowing machines and a couple of other pieces of Cardio equipment. Gym and Tonic have a lot more cardio equipment. LS Fitness appears to be focused on weights and strength building, judging from the amount of weight machines and free weights in there. For me I want to get in shape not just pump iron and if you've already got your 100 members I can't imagine they are all just pushing weights so surely the cardio equipment is going to be very busy.

From what I've seen LS Fitness suits you if you are someone that is keen to build muscle and lift weights. If you are after general lose a bit of weight and get fitter then I personally don't think it's suitable.

Keep the back pedalling for the spinning classes! :)

I don't go to a gym at the moment but am leaning towards Riverside as it gives you access to the pool and I can take the kids swimming.
