Ah ha! I can assure you there are no affiliations here :) Just a pauper-esque crocheter who appreciates a bargain!

And as an example - the same ball of yarn in K&N cost a full £1 more than in Craft Cave recently. That counts as expensive in my book!

Whilst not strictly in Stafford, I wanted to draw everyone's attention to the fact the a new fabric shop will be opening in Eccleshall on Saturday 10th November. I decided to close my shop for personal reasons and was thrilled when one of my customers asked if she could buy it!!

So please, if you need cotton fabrics for craft projects like patchwork, head down to the Corner Patch at 12 High Street Eccleshall on 10th November and say Hi to Jane!

She will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays with late night opening on Wednesday evenings

It looks like there's work happening at the old Greengate Deli store - lights on, things being moved about etc. I also here on the wind that there's plans to turn Stachmos (currently offices) into a crepiere

I noticed the old flower shop (even older car bits place) on the corner of the shop row of doom is now filled with second hand sofas. I'm guessing they are for the large and much needed charity shop soon to be opening a few doors down? Seriously, how can there be a recession on if that many people are buying new sofas and giving the old ones away?!?!?!

Sofa sales are strong, partly because people - rather than moving house or having a complete 're modelling' of their home - are buying key items , like sofas and telees, thus saving on several thousands of pounds but still feeling like they have 'moved up'

There were things afoot there when i passed earlier in the week - i didn't have time to spy on them or get embroiled in a basilesque interrogation of the workforce.

I noticed the old flower shop...
The sign for 'Forever Flowers' was still up when i last looked - turned out to be something of a misnomer.

The sofas, and the shop further down are a new "Heart foundation" shop of donated furniture.
They wouldn't fit in the old one.:D

Not quite Stafford, but the old Pub/Indian restaurant on the A449 in Penkridge has been having work done it on it for quite a few weeks. Can confirm it's to become a Sainsbury's.

You know the toy/model shop on Marston Road, well it seems to have activity in there, some blinds are up so unsure what its going to be. Probably a hairdressers as there is a lack of them on that stretch.

There is a new model railway shop opened in Marston Road. Number 28, is now Topp Trains. Not sure what happened to the old model shop, but I don't think this one is connected as it is a new venture. They are going to have a website: www.topptrains.co.uk, but this just appears to be a holding page at them moment.

We had a very friendly welcome from the owner, and spent plenty of time browsing and some of my money in there.

I wish them well as we haven't had a decent model shop in Stafford since the demise of Bagnall's and more recently the bloke on the market moved first to Amerton Farm, then to Dagfields. For those that partake in railway modelling, they stock Bachmann, Hornby and Dapol.

No connection, just a happy customer.

Satchmo's is now open asa Creperie, not sure how long The WaterMill has been open but that is under new management and the small shop that used to sell furniture at top of Mill St is now an antique shop.

Just for the record, it was Dave Walton who had the train stall in the Market and then at Amerton Farm. He did move from there to Dagfields, although he concentrated on transport memorabilia there, as there was, and still is, an existing railway shop there, which coincidentally changed hands at the same time - Trident Trains. I was actually in there today myself. Richard Spibey runs that and is most helpful and knowledgeable.

Dave sold his business a couple of years ago and moved back down south, Although he is now living in Halesowen..

I called into Topp Trains today and had a nose round. There's a good selection of N Gauge for those intending to build a ladies' layout. A large amount of 00 Gauge was on show and there was even an 0 Gauge wagon in the window. Most things can be sourced to order, also, apparently. Quite a selection of modelling materials and tools is available. At the moment it's 'cash only', as the credit card machine is still awaiting connection.

I did tip him off that he'd been spotted on here.
