Waste of time asking me,I normally twist mine up into a bun, then stick a big flouncy scrunchie round the lot, or scrape it back into a pony tail. Yours is roughly same length as mine, so how about half n half? Take the top layer and bung a hair slide on? Let mine loose and I look like a cross between Grotbags and Worzel Gummidge!

No Carole, no dress for me - black trousers & a black lacy top.....since entering my fourties I seem to be turning into (my interpretation of a) farmers wife....I no longer look slutty in a dress....just round & ruddy cheeked!

I wanted a bun type do & got friends teenage daughter to try......I've never looked so stupid!!!
Hmmm, if that bottom halfs loose I know I'll be fiddling with it all night!

I do that, what was lovely, clean n fluffy at the start of the night, is greasy and matted by time I leave for home, because i've had my hands on it all night. I'd have it all cut off, but my two lads here'd blow a fuse. Mums should have long hair, they say. No 2 lads hair is longer than mine, and, when straightened, it's well past his waist.

Gadget love, you wouldn't believe how scruffy he is. It's a John Lennon or The Beatles t shirt, normal straight legged jeans and i'm the 1 with the straighteners in my hand. I used the hairdryer first, etc etc. All 4 of mine have lovely curly hair, when they let it grow. My daughter's currently a blonde, and last time I saw her, her hair was almost waist length and a mass of curls.

Phew! That's not me Carole......that's That Crazy Rat Lady's version of me! I'm a grumpy middle aged women who's rapidly becoming a round farmers wife lookalike & if you found a picture of me in a bikini your eyes would probably bleed!!!

Right Ladies, as you may or may not know I have to go to a 'do' on Saturday.

Now I would normal pin my luscious, bouncy, shiny, curly, longer than shoulder length-but not waist length (FRIZZY & UNCONTROLLABLE) hair up into a French Pleat (I think it called that!) or my other option is to go for big 70's curls.....however I had it cut a little while ago & it doesn't seem to want to sit right in the French Pleat, & I don't really want to leave it down as I know I'll be nervous on the night (new people, social situation) and I'll faff & twiddle with it all night & it will end up looking like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards!

Any suggestions for easy up-do's......its got to be easy as I seemed to of skived my o'level in Girly hair preparation..... pictures or web sites would be great!

If you want a pretty bun I like to use those donut thingies you can get in Clairs accessories. Pull your hair though then use the 'pony tail' to wrap around it and secure it with a hair tie.

My friend has awesome curly hair and uses the twisty pins you can get specifically for the job.

Glad its not just me Glam! I really can't leave it alone if its down, & if I'm nervous then I'm even worse...shoving it behind my ears, pulling it back out cos that's not an attractive look for me, twirling it, shoving it back off my face, back behind my ears & out again, a bit more twirling & I end the night with a huge birdsnest with the parting on the wrong side & all the grey hairs showing!!!
