Pot holes in roads

Surely getting the worst of it out of the way in half term (i.e. the week just gone) would have been the best option if they really must do it now... otherwise leave it until the summer.

Definitely would have made a lot of sense - which is probably why they didn't...

On the other side of the coin though (trying to put a positive spin on the upcoming mayhem!) yes it's going to cause disruption for a few weeks but, assuming they do the job properly, it will sort out one of the worst bits of road in the whole town and make a big improvement

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Shall we start a sweepstake to see who can be closest to guess when it will get dug up again?

My guess is before Christmas 2014. Over to you...

'Oh, by the way, we need to replace a Water Main/Electrical Cable/Gas Pipe (Delete as appropriate) - we've known about it for 12 months, is it OK to do it next week?'

Agreed although for me the worst bit of road around is the A51 / A518 junction if heading from Stafford towards Uttoxeter.... seriously more holes than there is road... have reported it months ago but last time I went still wasn't touched.

Oh and on the subject of doing the job properly.... I noticed that the craters outside The Sun in town have been filled for the second time in about three months and this version of a "repair" looks like it'll need doing again in a month or two. Same for the big hole on the railway bridge past Tesco heading towards the rugby, at least the second repair on that in two months looks a little more 'long life'... Just can't understand why they wouldn't do a proper job once than slap some tarmac on it which lasts a month and then needs doing again.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it on here yet, but there's a sizable cavern opened up on the north bound side of Foregate street roundabout on the right lane.

And a few long-term tarmac quarries at the Halfords lights, southbound.

I think you'll find that's actually an archaeological dig. The council has a strict rule not to interfere.

The Golden Shovel Award must go to Doxey road, where even the speed humps have potholes. Reported six months ago. Wonder what happened to the £2m they got for fixing the highways? Gave it all to the developer of the multiscreen cinema we don't need, probably.

(If Gareth's reading this, what I really meant to say is that the council does a wonderful job and all the roads in Staffs are like billiard tables, especially the Sandon Rd junction with the A51.)

Well as SCC got the 2 million quid SBC would have had to steal the money from other poor sods.

never said anyone is wonderful, they do good and bad in equal measure they will get praise and criticism for both, I just cannot stand the utter bullshit some spout

I didn't mention SBC or SCC. All the money comes out of our pockets. We are the poor sods. As an insider, can you reveal how much of the £2m has been spent so far and what happens to the remainder if it hasn't been used by August

They spend it on other things like biofuel for those boilers they proudly showed off in the paper at faulty towers. Ps those boilers were just for show, a "Look were being eco-friendly with your money" ive been told they are never used. You would need a bloke shoveling the stuff in like a trains fireman to get any sort of use out of them.

Well as you're talking pot holes and roads which is SCC, the 2 million for a cinema complex is SBC which have nowt to do with roads.

As I understand it, the CC bagged £2.1m for roads, while the BC is giving away about £2m to help a Jersey-based developer to build something that will likely have a bad effect on the rest of the town centre.
