Retailers look for change to reinvent themselves.... The old M&S store could well of been on the chopping block (following recent news) if it hadn't of moved, the other retailers have moved to bigger sites.

Let's say for example that Riverside never happened... Just where would Primark, H&M, Nando's, Chiquito etc move to in town ? The fact is they wouldn't...

Enjoying a drop of red.
3 new businesses to the town. At a cost of at least an additional half a dozen empty shops - m&s, new look, river island, frankie & Bennie, vision express and more - all big stores that have little chance of being taken (unless you count the temporary pseudo-IKEA place camping out in river island).

well someone cannot count as cotton mentions 4 :)

That is before you count chiquitos, coast to coast, prezzos, the new mens clothes shop and frankie and bennys is someway outside the centre.

I also doubt revolution would here without the development. Let us not even get into the enhancement of those that have moved. M&s, river island, top shop you could not even move in previously the layouts were so poor.

the town needed to adapt to survive and riverside has been a breathe of fresh air so far to what else is good in town and it is not finished yet.

of course you cannot please every miserable sod

I for one believe that the Riverside development shows a vote of confidence in Stafford and will certainly make a number of others invest here in the future, even if it doesn't happen over night.
Judging by the numbers in town on what was a miserable Tuesday yesterday, weather-wise, most people agree with you, in the real world.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Theres a growing population who park at the Hough and then walk into town to their workplace....

How long till the owners get fed up of folk taking up spaces and get some parking company in as they have done on madford ?

The Hough Retail Park has always had a parking company slapping tickets on cars. I got one for parking slightly over a white line.
