I think a lot of this perception of what speed your going at has a lot to do with what you drive. For instance if your in a convertable sports car thats low to the ground it feels very fast because you can feel the wind, and for whatever reason it does feel faster. That is not just my opinion, it is a lot of peoples opinions. Same with motorbikes, you can feel like your doing more speed than you actually are. Which is the whole idea of some of these sorts of vehivles. But if your in a big comfortable mercedes thats automatic you can quite easily be going faster than you think because the dirving experience is so detatched and relaxed that you may occasionally be going faster than you thought. - THIS IS NOT DEFENDING PEOPLE WHO BREAK THE LAW BY SPEEDING!
Since cars are fitted with handy speedometer devices for the driver to refer to, so how fast you "think" you are going is irrelevant. Through referring to said speedo you should be able to link "feel" with actual speed in any case.

Yup, constantly stare at your speedometer in order to make sure you never accidentally drift above the speed limit. And accidentally run a family down in the process. But don't worry, you'll be going slow so they'll all survive ;)
Do you have a similar problem with using mirrors?

As for the technology to check for tards on phones, do you honestly expect them to pay people to watch a video 24/7? Once an automated system is devised, it will be used. Until then we have to rely on coppers to do it, of which we will have less.

With what sorry? ;)

I had them removed, they weren't very aerodynamic.

I bet you'd feel like a dick in a box if you had to man that thing.

I liked the statement about the recording device (dvd burner).

I was just waiting for her to say "this particular individual"

Had the occasional use of one of the first Smart cars in the country about 7 or 8 years ago (my then time boss had another business as a car importer) great fun around town.

I hired a Smart car in Majorca about 7 years ago, the bloke who hired it to me hired it empty and expected it back empty, he pointed me in the direction of the garage and off I went, I put the nozzle in a squoze the trigger for what seemed like 30 seconds and the automatic shut off clicked. It was full and the cost came to just over a fiver sterling, we ran about in it all over the island for 3 days and I still took it back to him 1/4 full.

Great little motors and great fun too.

Honestly why a Smart car?! They are well over priced...
Was cheapest option for me ;) Ok maybe not cheapest but very close to cheapest... £163 per month (including VAT) at 15,000 a year on a 2 year lease.

75mpg, fun to drive, easy for the trouble to park and a few toys built in.... oh and its essentially a Merc so good service from the dealers too and should be relatively reliable.

Oh and did I mention that the road tax is a big fat £0

Smart cars may not be completely suitable for everybody...

Only problem is now I can't bitch about the council stealing my road tax and not using it to mend the roads.... :D
Road tax doesn't pay for roads in any case...
