This effect is very noticeable on Corporation Street, where the chicanes produce an almost constant flow by smoothing out the random gaps. It can be very difficult to get across at times.

After seeing this, a friend of mine who recently picked up some points on her licence has renamed them 'safety points'.

Dunna worry, seems the speed cameras may get canned anyway.

Is it just me, or is this a silly move by the gov? They make more than they cost, so slashing the budget for them will actually cost more than just paying for them?

Thats wht i thought. Doesn't seem to make sense. Or do they actully make more than they cost? They must do, surely...

joy of joys! then what, electronically limiting cars automatically based on the limit of the road they're on?

I like the new Nissan GTR's system which automatically detects when you get to a race track (by GPS) and derestricts the car completely (it's woefully limited to 112 mph in japan / 155mph in europe). despite the 155mph normal limit this seems sensible.

To clarify, the GTR Nissan has GPS based restriction in Japan only. There is no such limit on the UK model, top speed being around 200mph. Any such restriction that is electronic is relatively easy to disable anyway if people are determined enough to drive at such speed on a public road.
