Rugby Club progress...

So, opposition to the Rugby Club's plans is "evil" and must be opposed by good people.
Perhaps Easter Day is a time to pause and consider the true nature of good and evil. Whatever people feel, we must not lose our sense of proportion. Let's keep the word "evil" to describe events in Brussels, Paris, Baghdad, Syria, Turkey...

Easter Day is irrelevant

Every war when it comes, or before it comes, is represented not as a war but as an act of self-defence against a homicidal maniac.

That's rubbish

Personally how low to stoop to try and get a decision in favour , children , Bullshit and more Bullshit , if the benefits are for children then a bridge over Kingsway for safety would have been built at your current site , blue grass perhaps no it's all about the Clubhouse , the drinking den for the adults is what this new facility is all about , would the grass at the new site make our children into world beaters no convince me I'm all ears

"your current site"... You assume I am a member of Stafford Rugby Club. I'm not, never have been and very much doubt that I ever will be as I have no interest in rugby or Stafford Rugby Club.

I do, however, advocate sport for young children and youth and believe that their views should indeed be heard when it comes to this planning application. Obviously it's adults who will make the decision and not children but there is no reason why children should not attend the meeting and put forward their views.

So before anyone twists my explanation , the benefits outweigh the impact , I have heard this somewhere , use the children as the benefits to outweigh the impact on the SSSI buffer and then we can all drink about it in the new BAR

I was not presuming at all about any association with the Rugby Club and I do not knock the proposal. But the proposal can be done anywhere , persons travel to Rowley Park , and wherever to use a 3G pitch this is not tied down to site specifics . I'm not a NIMBY this will not effect me in the slightest , but what I'm trying to protect is for the enjoyment of future generations also ,the buffer zone to Doxey Marshes SSSI it's beauty it's tranquility it's all free and we are trying to destroy it piece by piece

I think this is the fundamental opposition most people who object have, they aren't anti-rugby, just anti the destruction of this wonderful natural area of our town. Rugby pitches can be built anywhere. Once this area is destroyed, it's gone forever.

Yes you were assuming by saying "your current site".

You say you aren't a NIMBY but that is exactly how you come across.

Pmsl. How wrong can one person be in a single post.

It's all about profits for Lord Stafford.

End of.

Kids have a right to be dragged along there by their parents to support, just as they do to oppose.

Exactly. Not against the club getting new facilities, just not there. Pretty much anywhere but there! If it does get built there, that's when I'm against the rugby club themselves as they have taken something great from all of us for just their own enjoyment.

Surely the best way to protest would be to picket Lord Stafford's place in Mustique, or whatever tropical island he owns. The little people on the planning committee are doing nothing more than tugging their forelocks. Whichever party they claim to represent.

You lost the plot just there

That may well be the bottom line for Lord Stafford. A world class facility with a pitch as good as any, will put Stafford on the sporting map for many years to come. Whilst it may never host a Five Nations or whatever championship, it could conceivably host training facilities for any visitors to our shores.
At a personal level, I still believe the majority of objections to this development are mimbyistic. The benefits to our society which (the numbers of young people who are being taught teamwork and leadership skills every week at) the Rugby Club brings to Stafford are immense, and the better facilities on offer at the new development can only do good.

And Marwood reckons I've lost the plot.

Some on both sides clearly need a bit of a reality check.

Never met a Mimby, but apart from anything else, how could this proposal be 'a world class facility with a pitch as good as any' when it has so many disadvantages, like flooding, poor access, wind, inadequate lighting, etc?
