Rugby Club progress...

That may well be the bottom line for Lord Stafford. A world class facility with a pitch as good as any, will put Stafford on the sporting map for many years to come. Whilst it may never host a Five Nations or whatever championship, it could conceivably host training facilities for any visitors to our shores.
At a personal level, I still believe the majority of objections to this development are mimbyistic. The benefits to our society which (the numbers of young people who are being taught teamwork and leadership skills every week at) the Rugby Club brings to Stafford are immense, and the better facilities on offer at the new development can only do good.

Every single one of your points would apply to any new Rugby club, in ANY location. You clearly don't read the thread so let me repeat, no-one is against the Rugby club, just the Rugby Club building on this location. What I can categoically say is that if this plan does go ahead there will be ALOT of people who will despise the Rugby club.

You seem to have missed the point (by several pitches), why there?

Then let's hope the borough council don't catch on, seems leadership skills and teamwork have been lacking at our town hall for years,

This isn't a case of little brother asking big brother for help. This is the case of big brother assessing the decision little brother has made. Little brother has little say in what's called referred to / called in by big brother.
In some ways i wish i was less cynical than i am. But this is a Conservative majority council, serving under a Conservative led Parliament with a Conservative SoS with a slash and burn planning ideology.

I know what these people are like, and i know that most of their meetings are not minuted.

So, opposition to the Rugby Club's plans is "evil" and must be opposed by good people...
It's not actually that difficult to "quote" what somebody actually said, by clicking on the bottom right 'button' that has 'Reply' written on it. I note that you put the word 'evil' in quotation marks - like this...
... "evil"...
... but i can't actually find an instance where someone has used this particular word in this particular thread.

Your sentence confuses me with its accumulation of negatives not quite equalling themselves out.

re. suitable or unsuitable sites for new pitches, perhaps MAL or some equally informed source can confirm that Stafford used to play on the Tixall Rd, near Blackheath Lane? Wonder who owns the land now...

I used to play rugby on a pitch opposite the showground. Colder than a cold place.

Not sure how relevant that is to the price of cheese
