School Snow Closures - January 2013

Not Leasowes, but, living just a couple of hundred yards from the school on the 'wrong' side of Porlock Avenue, I know what you mean. Bus drivers must dread that route.
On one occasion, I had to walk my bike through it - an Arriva bus was totally surrounded in the middle of it all - the poor driver had turned it off and was reading the paper..

..if a car in the middle of it had caught fire..?

Met off forecast is for heavy snow at midnight tonight and then light snow til noon . I see 3 Rugeley schools already decided they are closing on the current school closure list.

King Edwards has decided to open 'as normal' tomorrow, so not everyone feels the need to wait to see what happens. Mind you, whether they then decide to close 'as not normal' remains to be seen.

Oh, and the bus operators have been known to demand early closures, at least for the bussed, so the decision may not be entirely in the head's hands.

BBC only predicting light snow now, if that comes to pass several hundred kids will need a parent at home tomorrow for no reason. Damned if you do....

EDIT: Apparently we are currently experiencing heavy snow, I am having problems spotting it?

Schools have a series of inset days each year, so if they had taken a closure decision that in the event wasn't needed they could just open properly on the next inset day.
I think you'll find Inset days are pre booked for training they are at the wife's school

Snowing East of us - and with an East wind - my road is fairly white now - anything could happen - or not.

We've got it, if you ask really nicely we may share though lol. We've had 4 inches approx so far today and it's still coming down like nobodies business

Did exactly the same earlier, cleared the existing snow from the top of my bin so i could conduct my own snowfall depth enquiries.

Last time i checked it was more like 5mm, but it was a while ago.

Edit - status report: now 13mm

Bin is on the drive at the front ready to put out so seems to be coming over from that direction (east?) , as patio shielded by house not got so much on. Could have done with it the other way round to get the car out of the garage in the morning!
