I have both sky TV and Virgin phone and Internet. I think the Internet is pants it always seems to be slower at the weekend and sometimes it doesn't work at all. Going to sky for everything is something I've also considered so it will be interesting and helpful to see any overall outcome on here.

I have friends that pay around £50 a month (a shocking £600 a year) for everything and just don't see the point. A landline is something very few people need any more, and I don't agree with paying a fortune for TV packages when freeview now has over 120 channels - unless of course you have a very specialised interest such as sports to make it worth the extra charges. I haven't had a landline for over 15 years or paid for TV since Comtel days.

Virgin Media, fibre broadband only - no phone - no TV. About £20 a month. Get yourself a nice Youview box and you can then do all the usual catch-up TV and series recording features etc.

Either way, by going to sky you're forced to have a landline whether you intend to use it or not.

Virgin is fine for me, but then I'm on some sort of silly 230MB service. They employ traffic shaping in peak times and all internet has contention ratios.

I much prefer not to give money to Sky and BT, although Virgin are part of some big US giant now.

Virgin for me..........easily. No reliance on the weather being clear to get a TV picture, and excellent customer service with free repairs/replacements should anything go wrong, which hasn't happened for me in 5 years so far!! Sky charge to come out to your house which I think is disgraceful given the monthly amount people already fork out.

@wmrcomputers I think the £40 I spend a month on Virgin is worth every penny!! The range of extra channels, alot of them HD makes it more than worth it for me :)

Out of interest, I'm looking to change BB provider, has anyone any experience of Viodafone? They seem happy to do BB withouth landline rental unlinke most of the others

Although the line rental charge is annoying, this has to be paid for in some form, so if it's not charged seperatly BB costs are likely to rise. The lines have to be maintained to give access to BB after all.

I'm a YouViewer too, I love it.

I have broadband contracts with all 3 at the moment. BT, Sky and Virgin.
Virgin is not bad, but the others are quicker for me.

I'm confused. Your post states how chuffed you are with everything you get from Virgin, but then you concluded with this statement?

As for Vodafone's new offering, Virgin have been capable of that from the start. We pay no line rental - we don't even have a phone line. It annoys me that Vodafone are trying to make it look like they're the first to do it.

I pay £24.50 a month for 76Mb fibre including line rental, I don't pay for TV as I rarely watch it. I need the upstream that fibre has, virgin can't match it even on their top package.
