Sky v Virgin

It's his money, he can spend it how he likes. He's not asking you to pay for it, so why worry.
People paying out for things can be beneficial for the likes of the rest of us - it's only because of heavy users that I can afford to have a mobile phone at all, for example.

If broadband is a concern then avoid sky packages... I'm currently staying with my brother who lives in Stafford and he has sky broadband... I honestly do not think it would be possible to have a worse connection other than having none. Most days it's between 2.5 and 3.5MBPS.... in 2016.... in a town.... unacceptable. It has gone below 1 during peak times. I averaged between 3.5 and 5 most days out in Cotes Heath and our phone lines are in fact wet string.

I'm confused. Your post states how chuffed you are with everything you get from Virgin, but then you concluded with this statement?

As for Vodafone's new offering, Virgin have been capable of that from the start. We pay no line rental - we don't even have a phone line. It annoys me that Vodafone are trying to make it look like they're the first to do it.

Sorry yeah!! At the moment I only have TV with Virgin, work pay for my BB with BT and it's crap despite being the business expensive version. I'm just wondering if anyone has used the Voda BB to see how they find it. If I get no feedback then it will be Virgin for everything as I have othing but good experience from their TV support. I'd rather not pay line rental whoever I go with!

Talktalk is £27 a month inc line rental for 38Mb fibre and TV, no idea on the channels though:

EDIT: Poss quidco too http://www.quidco.com/talktalk-broadband-and-digital-tv/

I work in IT, I speak to ALOT of people with home BB, and not a single positive has ever been mentioned in the same sentence as TalkTalk. DO NOT go with them, they rate marginally above those Atlas cowboys for support if you need it. I reeat, AVOID TALK TALK!!

I've had TalkTalk for years, phone for most of this century (back when it was Onetel) and broadband for about eight/nine years. It's cheap, it works well enough for what I do and I've never needed any support, so have no experience of what it would be like.

I've dealt with Virgin's "support" on behalf of others several times and they may still have the recording of me issuing a contractual statement -
I wouldn't have you if it was free!.

Sky means giving money to Murdoch, which is definitely Out.

BT just annoy me.

I don't do telly, so none of that matters to me.

I wouldn't ever choose BT. Just ran my speedtest on BT business - 3mb download and .73mbps upload. :(

Just curious what people use their very high speed connections for ...

Apart from 'that' of course
Downloading windows updates on more than one machine at a time, streaming live / catch up TV services, then there are 7 of us with phones connected up via wifi, 2 of which are PERMANENTLY on bloody Facetime... and then there are no doubt about a dozen other locals / kids friends connected to our wifi when they are here too. Hell, I bet our 3 dogs sit in their posh kennel on Snapchat with their mates! I'm only joking - we can't afford a posh kennel really.

Yours makes mine look dismal, @tek-monkey

For the record I'm only on the lowest virgin speed - it suffices, the speed test was just done wirelessly and the male dog is on MuzzleTime(TM) with a dirty bitch from down the road
(It's a SHE and she's been in a BROOK - I didn't swear!)

Sorry, must go back to behaving myself.

And both make mine look f*cking DIRE :D
It could be worse. Remember the days where an ebay page took around 30 seconds to load up on dial-up? To be the lucky bidder you had to be the one who clicked in a bid with less than 3 minutes to go! I thinks it's more like 3 seconds nowadays. Haha
