Just been having a natter with jchiltz, who unfortunately can't make it on the night :( Is anyone planning on filming the evening? Would be good for non-attendees and attendees alike to be able to watch the performances on the web.
Excellent idea, Andreas. Sofa is quite handy with a camera, is he not? Or will you be busy with other things to attend to that night, Mr. S?

I expect to be a bit busy, however, there is a chance that some media students from Stafford College may be making a little film about the evening, so fingers crossed!

Also, while I am here, I would like to thank all Forumites for their support of Love Music Hate Racism so far and also ask you all to redouble your efforts in spreading the word about the gig!!!

BREAKING NEWS: A number of tickets are now going to be kept back for sale on the night, however, of course, numbers are limited. So, for anyone who can't get down to Oxfam to grab a ticket, you can now reserve up to four tickets by emailing staffordlmhr@live.co.uk , stating your name and how many tickets you want.

Cheers!

Sofa - I still haven't got round to buying mine yet but still definitely coming to photograph the night for you so if you could chuck a ticket aside it would be much appreciated!

You're on the list. =)

A detailed message about the night has been sent out to all of the members of Stafford ADS, so hopefully that might attract another one or two ticket sales.

Worth a stafford point?? ;)

Does anybody know if there was a press release printed in the entertainment section of the Newsletter or the Express & Star today?

edit: ..or in any other section for that matter

I had a quick scan of both but didn't spot anything. I haven't seen the Post, but someone who has says they didn't notice anything; I have no idea about the Chronicle, but it's crap anyway.

It is somewhat disappointing, especially as we were approached by the Staffordshire Newsletter... I shall be speaking to the appropriate person tomorrow (after checking to make sure I wasn't just being blind), so I will let you know what comes of it.

See you all tomorrow evening!

A few posts under my belt
Hi Chaps,

Yep I've got my Oxfam tickets for tonight. Can I make a suggestion for the forum. I was looking for what's on in Stafford etc. and came across this section quite quickly, however I notice users seem to drift way off the subject watering down the message. Can I suggest a dedicated What's On Events section which is exactly that and the general chat, where it occurs, is moderated to another section.

This works very well on other forums and would make this one a lot more relevant and readable.

Cheers for now. :)

Hi Mister Ralicz :)

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean that once a notice is posted in the "Out & About" section, the thread should be locked so that no-one else can comment? If so, that goes directly against the whole ethos of a discussion forum!

The idea is, people post a notice here about a place or event they think will interest others. Hopefully, that will then stimulate discussion amongst the Forumites, and encourage people to attend.

I'm open to suggestions and ideas, though! Do you have any suggestions?

and don't forget there is the Upcoming Events box which is permanently displayed down the left-hand side of your screen, no matter what sub-forum you are reading, which shows (unsurprisingly) upcoming events :)

That's mega pants. I was expecting to see some posters round town etc too...are you sure there will be enough people going to make it a proper event?!

wait, so not only are we not in the newsletter (even though they approached us, and so it was basically handed to us on a plate), but there aren't even any posters advertising this?? how has it been promoted then??

surely it hasn't been solely by word of mouth??

I remember when Stafford LMHR was first mentioned on this 'ere forum, and when the donation of £50 for the booking of the Gatehouse came about, there was talk of an email to all 500+ registered forum users with the flyer. This would have been FREE PUBLICITY TO 500+ CONFIRMED EMAIL ADDRESSES.

Just because there are this many users registered doesn't mean that there are anywhere near that amount of folk who regularly look at or contribute to the forum. The flyers were brilliantly designed by TENSHON, so all the hard work was done. I'm sure Admin would have had no problem with sending the email...would have been the perfect opportunity I think.

Seriously peeps...there were offers from various Forumites to help in any aspect of the organising/publicising of the event. I just hope that this evening proves me wrong and there's a good turn out!
