Stafford Rangers - New Start and The Way Forward.

There are sure to be more twists and turns as the season enters it's closing month. Rangers are currently 10 points clear of Shaw Lane, while they have 3 games in hand (tight or what!) Our lead has been reduced as they have started winning their games in hand but there was every chance that would happen. If we win all of our games there is nothing they can do to catch us. What we need now is the Stafford community to come out in force for our last 3 home games! This Saturday we welcome Tividale to Marston Road with a 3pm kick off, next Saturday we not only welcome Gresley, again at 3pm, but also stage an old boys reunion with many players from the 70s and 8-s coming back to the club, with a gathering in the social after the game. Our final home game is against Basford on Saturday 16th April by which time we really hope we know that things don't go down to the last game!
Along with all of the football there is a lot going on - the club are currently collecting names to build a mailing database to inform people what goes on, from football matches to community events. From social club improvements to our new club lottery that will be open to everybody whether football fans or not. This will give you a chance to win various cash prizes while also helping financially support YOUR local club.

As well as the above, Stafford Rangers have got a local 'away' derby at Chasetown. It would be fantastic if we could outnumber the home fans - we usually do.

It's been a fantastic season, we now need to finish the job.

I always think about going to the rangers every saturday but then i remember im the responsible adult in charge of a 5 year old, a 2 year old and a 1 year old whilst my mrs is at work. I havent been at all this season and i really hope they get promoted, it would be a massive kick in the teeth if they got pipped at the post by SLA especially as theyre a bit of a a joke team.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Should we mention that the planning application has been submitted for the Shed End? It's taken time getting to this point but we hope it's worth it!
Unless you're going to be rendering some rare species of wildlife homeless, then I doubt our current planning committee will pass it. Unless one of them is a director of the club, of course.

We are hoping to provide a home (a cover) for some rare species; Stafford Rangers fans. A lovely bunch of people enjoying a fantastic season.

Markpa, i take it yours the same markpa that frequents the stafford rangers forum? If so you and the other guys who have put all the work and effort in to the new stand need a massive pat on the back! Its people like you that have dragged the club back from the brink. I know the directors come and go and have made some really bad decisions in the not too distant past, but the fans are what have kept the club alive and still continue to drive the club into the future. I take my imaginary hat off to you.:bravo:

I am the same person. Thank you for your very kind words. I'm just trying to do my little bit to help the club.

The club is very fortunate to have a lot of fantastic fans all doing their bit to help the club. There are many fans, such as Gilbert Grape that have done a lot more than me.

Planning application had been submitted, we now have an 8 week wait. Hopefully, it will be approved. We've had positive pre-app.

Another big day at Marston Road this weekend. As well as another big game against Gresley there is an old boys reunion with players from the 70s & 80s returning, with a gathering in the social club after the game. If you were part of those heady days of Wembley trips and championships you may well want to pop along and mingle with faces such as Stuart Chapman, Joe Clayton, Mick Cullerton, Ben Seddon and Gerry Jones.
This is another must win game so we look forward to a big gate and we also have a bucket collection to raise funds towards the Shed End project as it now gathers pace after submitting the planning application.

The bandwagon faltered slightly but is back on course! We beat Gresley 3-1 at the weekend, then our nearest rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce, lost 3-2 at Coalville, last night, meaning we were again back in the driving seat. 7 points ahead with them having 2 games in hand. This weekend we travel the short distance to Market Drayton Town, next weekend we face Basford United in our final scheduled home game before travelling to Coalville for our final game on 23rd. The whole scenario of possibly going down to the wire is something else and everybody hopes we see a lot of faces at those last 3 games!

The club has also launched a mailing database where you can sign up to receive news from the club. One thing you will hear about in local press is a new club lottery. Prize details still to be released but you can sign up for news on this link -

Marsh? Don't think so. It's on a sports are with some other football pitches and the rugby and cricket, from memory.

PS - NO DOGS NO GOLF? I didn't know they could hold a club?

Another big win at Market Drayton with fans playing a part in the win. 2 0 up and pulled back to 2 2 then the crowd urged the boys on to a 3 2 win! Our rivals scraped another win so the gap is still 7 points but they play another game in hand this Tuesday.
You'll probably see it in a lot of local press that the 12th man will be called on for a big turn out this weekend as we play our last home game at Marston Road as we take on Basford Unite who have already qualified for the play offs. We could get a crowd to remind us of the good old days. I would guess we will break the 1,000 mark for the second time this season and if Shaw Lane fail to win on Tuesday we could even be in danger of getting the title. We are keeping everything crossed!

Gilbert, am I correct in saying a win for rangers this weekend and a loss for shawlane would see the title won or is there more than that?
