Where is pound stretcher moving to?
Wasn't it going into the old PC World?
Former Poundstretcher shop in Queens now completely stripped out and fenced off ready for work to commence.
Do you know which unit Accesorize are moving to? I hope it's the big one next to Costa so they can fit in a Monsoon section too
Left of Greggs I think?
Stafford has a Greggs? OMG!
Does it still have a Carpetright?
Not for long
Two Staffordshire branches of Carpetright are among the 92 stores set to close, it was announced today.... Among those set to close is the Stafford branch, located on the town's Queensville Retail Park - with the branch in Lichfield also closing its doors.
(Sentinel story here)
Not surprised tbh, went in a few months ago and the store looked very rundown.
Its the one further up next to Greggs (they've already got the Accessorize signage up)
My god I thought carpet right died years ago.
Someone just mentioned to me the one festival park was looking ropey and half empty recently ` looked like a poor version of a 80s carpet store`.
Apparently only person there for 2 hours in a Saturday.
Thanks - I was in Stafford this morning so popped in - the store is now open but only an Accessorize I suppose we should be thankful that it hasn't closed altogether but I wish it was a Monsoon too.
Toys R Us at Queens now almost empty of stock and closing tomorrow (Saturday, nearly midnight now). Odd apparently Lego vanished of the shelves of most stores when the discount was only 15% but quite a bit of stock remained until it reached 40% discount in Stafford. A 40% discount didn't stop someone shoplifting £30 worth of Lego this week.
"Someone". I get you.
For our busiest retail park to have 3 empty units over the next few weeks, just shows how retail is struggling...
.... and yet the car park always seems busy. Maybe everyone's browsing and not buying.
I've only been in there about four times since B&Q left - the size of the exit queue that I regularly see would rather put me off, if there was anything in there for me...
Well, Stafford can hardly be blamed for (inter)national chains going under
It is a fair point.
The pinch is now hitting retail parks, the issue being as the likes of toys r us, maplin, poundstretcher, carpet right, jjb, comet etc etc close, there are less companies out there to come in and take over massive units.
The same on festival park in hanley. Toys r us about to vacate a purpose built store they moved into less than a year ago (comet unit was empty 2 years), carpet right is on the list for a second round of closures, pc world has been empty for more than a year ( a quite grim temp furniture shop there at min) and the former Next is empty.
That is essentially 4 units they are struggling to fill. Yet have built 2 extra units filled by next (moved where toys r us were before) and river island.
.....brantano another recent one
