Stafford Sleaze and Scandal

He failed, sorry forgot, to declare a number of directorships of a number of companies in his register of interests.

This is against the law. Even if you say sorry.

It would appear to be further alleged that local, and national, government monies have been awarded to the gain of those business interests.

Thank you. I am quite cross in that case.

If public money has been leaking to those companies, why is he still there?

Because he said sorry.

It's a bit like when you had that terrible fly infestation because of the bloated corpse of your murdered husband in the loft - a bit like, but not exactly the same, because your husband's corpse is yet to be discovered, whereas Heenan's deeds have.

If and when your terrible secret is discovered, you will, of course, say 'i'm so terribly sorry, please let me off, i promise not to do it again'. This will be true - as seeing as he is already dead there is literally no possibility that you could possibly kill him again.

You will consequently be given some sort of token admonishment and sent upon your merry way.

Good manners don't cost nuffink.

Best not to have to call upon it at all but i guess it is a little late for that.

Apropos the JM post ^above, are plod actually on the case does anybody know?

He(enan) has broken the law of the land, has he not? There must be a case to investigate at the very least - a case to answer yea or nay in due course?

Plod will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, in order to do anything about this - and who's likely to do that...?

Our beloved PCC?

What with all the backing we've given him by not voting for him at all, he's bound to be all over this like the proverbial rash.

Matthew Ellis - I think not..

P.S., I only know what his name is because the recently late James Ellis played Sergeant Bert Lynch in Z Cars fifty years ago..

So, the Staffordshire Police Commissioner is a Conservative Councillor old boy , yes?

And Heenan is a Conservative Council leader?, yes?

So, highly likely they already know each other ?, yes?

Then clearly there will be system in place whereby an outside force will he called in to investigate? No?

Oh. I see.

Right

But he did say sorry you say?

Apron , not Bib , oh yes, silly me, I must have got it wrong

I believe precedent was set during the great expenses oversight, where MPs quite rightly presumed that expenses meant any costs incurred in their daily lives. Turns out that house restoration for reselling, duck houses and paying for houses for your kids is no longer allowed, who'd have thunk it? So they all did the right thing and said sorry, promising it wont happen again as long as they get a pay rise equal to or above the expenses they lost.

I'm shocked that people are shocked, he's a conservative FFS were none of you around last time they were in power?

The Great Expenses Scandal of Westminster happened under Labour's watch, with just as many Liebour cheats as Cuntservatives, don't forget.

Any MP or councillor is just a likely to be a crook, whatever their party. I think it's a pre-requisite of being part of the political class.

I'm well aware they are all dodgy bastards, but the last time the Cons were in power coked up prossi gang bangs seemed the norm. Nobody batted an eyelid at half the scandals because there just seemed to be so many, although it is possible my interest in politics was more limited back then and those were the stories I picked up on.

As for the expenses scandal being under labours watch, I think they'd been enjoying these perks for much longer than any party had held power. IIRC it was Labour that made the second home allowance applicable to any property you felt like though, rather than one actually in Westminster to actually be your second home when working away. It's amazing how easy it is to get these things passed when everyone allowed a vote is actually profiting from the result.
