Where is this man @staffordjas ?

I quite often drive down Radford Bank, coming from the A34 Wildwood direction. The lights seem to change every 3 minites (I have timed them), but I have never seen a man?

Is he further up towards Milford?
He is sitting on a chair right next to the lights at top of Radford Bank, where the sign says 'Stop here' .Got a white hard hat on, a red scarf thing around his face and sitting low down reading so driving you probably wouldn't spot him easily.
I've seen him press the button to change them ...unless he's the 'red light camera in operation' operator ;) . (If those red light cameras really are working they must have caught a few motorists yesterday tagging on the end)

Enjoying a drop of red.

To be fair to him he is quite active at the start of the day. He just seems to lose interest as the day goes on.

At various times, I've seen him a) doing his job, b) texting, c)with the other workers gathered round him, all having a chat instead of doing any work, d) snoozing.

Drove through town today and up the Tixall Road - traffic queuing all the way into town from Kensington Drive ! Then queuing traffic at the lights by the Crem right back to Tixall Heath Farm. I dread to think what it will look like in the future with the new developments in the Haywoods and the site next to the Crem. Stafford Planners and Highways staff must arrive by helicopter as they clearly don't see that there is a problem with the infrastructure in Stafford. Just glad I was going the other way today.

I thought we were told we all need affordable housing, you can't get this built in one night.

Bloody new developments, bloody traffic.

I saw him today, he seemed to be paying attention, although the newspaper was by his side ready for when it all gets a bit too much.

I walked past an hour ago. He was actually standing up operating a stop & go sign and another bloke at the bottom lights doing the same. Maybe their bosses read Stafford Forum;)

I went past at lunchtime & only saw a bloke in a yellow hat stood up by the lights...maybe we should all toot & wave at him now he's famous!

There was a different bloke operating the lights at the top of Radford Bank today The bloke who went to sleep was doing another job there. Traffic seemed to be flowing better through those works both when I walked into town and drove back after picking my car up. Riverway on the otherhand going towards Lammascote road junction looked a right nightmare, with traffic queuing back to the retail park. Fairway also had a massive queue waiting to get onto Riverway. Just glad I was driving in the other direction.

On another note.....are mobility scooters supposed to be driven on the road? An old bloke was riding down the middle of the Sandon Road on one. Wondering what would have happened concerning insurance if he'd have bumped or scraped any of the cars , as when the traffic started qeueing at the lights he was then trying to edge past.

I was waiting at the lights going up Radford Bank and there was a woman walking down with long blonde hair.

I thought "I wonder if that is @staffordjas "

Mind you I think that about lots of other people.
If I am in Lidl and I see a man I think..I wonder if that is @Gramaisc

And so on....

@littleme

Was this woman middleaged, very scruffy, wearing no make up, hair like a banshee, frowning and looking harrassed? :?:

If so then that would be me.

I was on the way to walk the dog. I had to get something from the pound shop and I thought..."oh nobody will see me just nipping out for 5 mins".

That'll teach me.

How do you know what I look like anyway?

2 things.....you posted a picture of your car (which is what I recognised first) & you posted a picture of you & the defibrilator :)

I was (& still am) in a sulky, mardy, miserable as sin mood, so wasn't going to say hello to anyone!

Correct :D Sorry to hear you aren't feeling too good @littleme

If you think it's me walking tomorrow it isn't me. Off to Doncaster for a couple of days.

I did think today, whilst walking up Sandon Road to fetch the car, "I wonder if Gramaisc is driving past? "

Yes, assuming the North is the same as England/Wales.

It's currently 80 here - 50 in the Republic, as in the rest of Europe, apart from Malta - but a mere 20 for new* licence holders and 'professional' drivers.

* For the first year, I think.

But the penalty is a lot less harsh. Think the penalty for exceeding the 50 limit in the Republic is 3 points and a 200 Euro fine. When I worked in Belgium in theory the limit was lower than the UK, but to get the UK penalty you needed to be close to double the UK limit.

In Ireland.

A learner, novice or professional driver testing above the 20 limit will receive a €200 FCPN and at least a three month ban.

A 'leisure' driver caught for the first time over 50 but under 80 will get the €200 FCPN and 3 points that last for three years, but he can only avail of this option once in a three year period - caught again between 50 & 80 and he goes to court and gets a ban and a fine.

In the Czech Republic the allowable alcohol level is zero - I presume they have some leeway....
