The Newsletter says - "A traffic order will be in place from October 19, preventing traffic from travelling south on Riverway between the junctions of the A518 Lammascote Road and A34 Lichfield Road. Northbound traffic will be unaffected. The alternative route will be via the A518 Lammascote Road, A34 Queensway and A34 Lichfield Road."

Unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be an explanation as to why.
