Apologies all round i was given this info by my EX! pal Gilbert, it seems that again he's wide of the mark, the stuff is available at the clinic in the same road. Why i ever listen to him i dunna know. Agreed his furnished me with some juicy inside info in the past however his current form is sadly lacking....

Can i just mention although its there you cant just turn uup and ask for it. You need to call the flu line (0800 1 513 513) and be diagnosed as needing Tamiflu first. If you do need it you then need to get someone to go get it for you...so sort a 'flu buddy' out before you get swine flu. If you got swine flu a) you probably wont want to go anywhere and b) they dont want you taking swine flu into the health centre.

I know most people already know this but it has happened at other distribution points (and thats why there are security gaurds at these places) so thought worth while bringing it up.

Thank you, this is the end of this public service announcement. Normal service can now resume.

Security guards??!! Really?????

The only place to get tamiflu from when i was diagnosed was the pharmacy by the University, and my wife said there wasn't any security on there.

Thats because there were relatively few cases. Since then (with the opening of the flu line and online diagnosing) there will be many, many more cases requireing tamilflu. Think safegurding antiviral stocks with security guards is a little OTT? Well all NHS trust have a flu pandemic plan (stemming form when we thought bird flu was going to be a big problem). Many of these plans state the use of security gurads being situated at entrances to hospitals to limit who comes in during a flu epidemic. So during this time of credit crunch, extra penines could be picked up doing security work :)

Problem is this story will be all around the Y Not by now and the clinic is probably gonna have to weather the storm for a few days yet......

The great thing about Swine Flu is that you can get a sickie for two weeks without even visiting a doctor. No-one should be surprised that 100,000 were 'infected' in the week the school holidays began. I wonder how many will achieve the medically impossible and have time off work for two bouts of Swine Flu - the fake one in July and the real one later in the year.
