Didn't last long :(
What a shame - Mark is a top chap who put a load of effort into getting the place running. Unfortunately, as rumour has it, Enterprise Inns, who own the building, were completely unsupportive and put the final nail in the coffin last Friday. I hear there had been a problem with kitchen equipment which was Enterprise's responsibility, and it took them so long to fix it that by then it was all over.

The curse of the big pub owning companies strikes in Stafford again.

Do you think the severe lack of advertising was due to Enterprise Inns also? The only place I have head about it reopening at all was on this forum.

If it is now run by an "Holding Company" does this mean the pub will stay open for a couple of months, then closedown again? as some of these companies are only in it short term.
As I sadly predicted in August :(

Less choice in all aspects of your spend is the likely future outcome I am afraid

Only those businesses who can cut their costs - ie those big enough to demand better deals through their supply chain - Tesco, Wetherspoons etc, etc, are likely to survive.

They in turn will swallow up the best of the rest , with independents ( in any shopping/eating/drinking sector )either taking a massive hit to keep going or simply going bust.

Eating out will become more of a challenge than a pleasure if you happen to want a wide choice and have a discerning palate . There will be much less on offer away from the 'chains' with little choice between your KFC's and the high-end Hotel Restaurants .

It simply doesnt pay

Sue them! There were loads of people on the Facebook group, of which I am sure would have come along and made it a regular haunt.

Sad sad sad.

That's it then, Enterprise Inns have decided to get rid. It is now up for sale only, £350,000 through Colliers estate agents , based in Birmingham. As is the Telegraph and the rose and Crown.

Fingers crossed they will be bought up by locally-minded people... Shall we start a Forum Pub Fund?
