I had the McDonalds vegan wrap last week.

Having eaten nothing but whole foods for 3 weeks - I can tell you that it tasted foul.

I was very disappointed - and my body hated me for it the next day!!

I'm not really sure what I was expecting to he honest..

(Although I can't deny I enjoyed the fries!!)

This is an often unspoken positive of the vegan diet, if meat is replaced with home cooked food, the massive reduction in processed and junk foods eaten. I also feel awful now if I eat junk yet never noticed this before I was vegan.

As an aside, I often wonder why meat and dairy eaters won't substitute cruelty free options when there is no discernable difference in taste. Habit? Apathy?

Habit I think. I eat non-meat meals when the OH is away with work but he always wants meat. Every time I suggest we eat less he complains, although I am sure he'd still eat what I cooked him.

If I had asked my husband to go vegan he would have to me where to go.

Instead I quietly declared I had - and carried on cooking tasty meals.

I am yet to have any complaints!

Good plan. I did think of buying some veggie sausages and see if he noticed but if he did he'd go mad. That's a much better way.

Anyone got a good squash recipe? We've got a couple we grew and they probably need using.

I think habit is a biggie. I can see losing meat as a very noticeable change. But what about coconut milk yoghurt instead of dairy, almost no diff in taste to me, or oat milk instead of dairy for cooking, sauces, pancakes etc, hot chocolate and this sort of thing. I reckon it would be ridiculously easy to substitute these things and no one even notice. Which begs the question why anyone would choose the unhealthy and cruel dairy option when dairy free exists and is of such a high quality?

I could barely bring myself to read this, not because Greggs are using palm oil but because it's the dirty bum rag Daily Mail. Just look at that crass headline, not being able to help themselves but muddy the water and create outrage, but quite amusing at times, very true to form from what i understand.

Greggs' guilty secret: More calories than a McCheeseburger and laced with controversial palm oil - the unpalatable truth about that VERY right-on vegan sausage roll

Still shit i know but Greggs use sustainable palm oil.

I would advise to go vegan before dropping palm oil. If anything, do both if you have/want to, could/should do!

Stubbornness? Provocative?

All of which i suffered from in the past, still do, but only in helpful situations and (near damn as possible) not when it comes to animals.

@1JKz

I feel like I’ve just been ranted at.

My original question was merely asking if there was any truth that Greggs use palm oil, You asked me where I had heard it and I sent a link to the article. I’d also read something similar in The Guardian but I can’t find that link now.

A polite “no they don’t” or , “they do but it’s sustainable” would have answered my question.

No palm oil isn’t bad for you, but unless it’s sustainable it’s bad for the planet.

It's nowhere near as bad for the planet as drinking milk, eating cheese or consuming any other dairy product, or eating any form of meat. If vegans eat palm oil they are still doing huge amounts less damage to the environemnt than anyone who eats meat or consumes dairy. And thats before we even talk about the abhorrent endemic and sytematic animal abuse of the dairy and meat industry.

No one can say they care about the environment and then eat milk and dairy product. No one can say they love animals and then eat dairy or meat products. Doing that just makes someone a hypocrite.

As for palm oil, I don't buy it in any form, sustainable or not, knowingly. It's not easy though as it's in so many vegan products
